Sooooo, WTF is going on in India?

================

“India’s Covid death toll could be ten times higher than is being officially reported, according to analysis of the numbers being burned in crematoriums.

Another 314,835 infections were reported on Thursday, the world record for a daily cases figure, while the health ministry said there were 2,074 fatalities.

India’s health infrastructure has been brought to its knees by a second wave which is three times higher than the first, with medics pointing to a new variant believed to be more infectious.”

Maybe. Maybe not. How the hell can I know? OTOH, “They’re a bunch of fucken liars!”, is now a pretty good assumption when reading anything on the Internet.

Anecdotal, but I have an Indian employee based in the US that went home a few weeks ago to visit. He is reporting strict lock downs. This is out in the boonies near Pakistan…

Stucky- Cuba has a death rate of 0.59, just off the top of my head they have about 3.2 million population. Cuba developed their own vaccine which may be a (real) attempt at a vaccine if one believes vaccines actually work.

India is in the Southern hemisphere so they will necessarily now enter their version of the Winter upsurge we up here in the North just endured. Beyond the predictable increase in seasonal deaths it will be hard to understand with all the hysteria, politicization, and the resultant corruption of data.

India is not in the southern hemisphere. The southern tip of India is at 8 deg north, so it is totally in the northern hemisphere.

Oofda, my error. Their monsoon season starts in June and I incorrectly associated it with their Winter. Thanks for the correction. It makes their upturn even more curious.

India is in the Southern hemisphere

That is incorrect — look at a globe. FWIW, it’s an easy mistake to make…

Thanks to all for the polite response to my boneheaded error. I did some searching of reasons given for the sudden uptick in India but found nothing useful. The “journalists” are claiming the increase is because people have stopped using masks, no surprise there.

If it were masks, then it would be the first correlation of a change in infection rates with mask use. Till now all the charts I’ve seen indicate no change in infection rates or deaths following mask mandates. If there is no change when masks go into use, it seems doubtful there would be a change when masks are dropped as per Texas.

Try this on for size: reports from China and then Germany, and now from India, suggest an association between low selenium levels and outcomes of Covid-19 patients. The Chinese especially know a lot about the relationship between selenium levels and viral infections-primarily because of China’s vast region of selenium deficient soil and the large number of viruses that originate there. My guess is the population of India possibly could be largely selenium deficient, but I have yet to look for hard data to support that; however, this report suggests that could be the case.

It would appear that there is a 14 day lag time between the billion dollar payoff and the dramatically higher infection rate.

HSF zeros in on the truth of how the COVID scam works. Sorta like paying off the hospitals to mark every death a COVID death no matter what the true cause.

Interesting, India’s warmest average temperature is in Feb and coolest in July. So even though it is in the Northern hemisphere, its climate looks more like that of the Southern hemisphere. By April the average temperatures typically drop to their mid point between the high in Feb and the low Jul. Apparently parts of India have also experienced cooler weather as has been common throughout the Norther hemisphere this last year.

I don’t know if the temperature is contributing factor, but it is more likely to have an effect than masks.
