In the 1950s Baltimore was fully employed & wealthy – Iron & steel, ship building, cars, copper & bronze, electronics, chemicals, paint. Can’t really blame the hoods in the ‘hood for noticing that nearly all of that comes from China now and they’re looking at being jobless & useless for life. To fix Baltimore, or Philly, or any city with an NFL team, simply fire China and manufacture it all here again. Urban shitholes are a direct result of a few choices made by Congress in DC.

Every government day prison passing as a school is crappy. Single out Baltimore if you want, but your child’s school, if you are still sending them to one of these places, is just as bad regardless of what you tell yourself to feel better.

public libraries are one of the greatest ideas ever. public schools? one of the worst.
Actually private libraries did an outstanding job of providing needed services to folks long before public libraries. And they existed fine without having to steal from anyone for their existence.
I know that even as big city public school systems go, Baltimore is a dump. However, we need to cut those “educators”( corrections officers) a break. You can’t turn shit into ice cream.

Of course it will not happen in the present system and the present system will not volunteer to commit suicide, so the only discussion should be is when are we going to make suicide look like a step up in life for the pols and their bankrollers.
Not exactly sure what you define as “their portion of school funds” (ie – what THEY put in, or what the state spends on each kid), but what most want is their cut of what is STOLEN from everyone else, and the only way this ends is if parents take responsibility 100% and government gets out of it 100% including doing the stealing on their behalf.

dont know what dicksmoker downvoted this.. but this is the core of the matter. not keeping the government in the loop distributing funds, but getting the government entirely out of this business.
collecting the funds by force as taxation and then showering them here and there as ultimately politics determines… you might reform that system from time to time but its always going to be a pit of corruption. theres no feedback loop, theres no accountability. close the loop for sure by cutting the middlemen out of the picture. Yes, many careers will come to an end. they were all parasites to begin with.

no. thats the worst of BOTH the public and private sectors. get the government OUT of the education business entirely. NO school districts, NO school boards, NO school taxes, NO ‘education departments’, none of it. schooling is a matter for the family itself to sort out as it suits them. Some families will send their kids to schools , and make whatever arrangements they make about that. some will pay. others will cooperate. some will home school. some will pool together and do a group home schooling. I know a single mom who with half a dozen other parents couldnt find an elementary school that really suited them and they started their own. the worked it like a co-op, did as much teaching as they could, hired teachers for what they werent confident they could cover. a few dozen other parents over the subsequent 6 years got their kids in there as well, mostly paying money to contribute. It sorta fell apart when the original energized parents’ kids finished and the late comers were on their own to keep it going, but for 6 or 7 years it was a serious effort. There’s no excuse. And those people were still paying high school taxes all along, money down the toilet for them as they were doing their own school entirely on their own.
in no case does the government have any business in education whatsoever though.

This is an example of the time warped thinking illustrated in a previous TBC article. The problem with national schools is not the monopoly. It is the nation itself. The nation and the people in it now suck. Thus the schools suck. I went to excellent, pro-white, pro-American, pro-western schools in the 1960’s. The contamination of them took hold in the late 60’s. The decline has been steady. Bad ideologies and bad students make bad school systems. If we were to rebuild smaller, high-trust, predominantly white schools, we would rebuild an excellent national public school system in which students had a sense of belonging and purpose. The current nation is broken and so are its public schools.
Education is the responsibility of parents. Let the market build whatever meets their needs. “National” simply means government, and we cannot have good education if government is involved whatsoever.

the answer of course is _none of the above_. Strictly limited, enumerated powers, granted to the government on tough terms, readily revoked, and only ever short in duration, and absolutely no state involvement inside family affairs.
