NO FEAR, NO MASKS, JUST FUN

Last night at the Inlet in Wildwood. Packed house. Good rock and roll band – Le Compt. No masks. No social distancing. No fear. No one cares about Fauci and Biden’s fear mongering. Just living our lives, having some fun, and ignoring our government and media assholes.

Good bands don’t play covers.

I disagree. Good bands have original music and also play covers

Fair enough, The Rolling Stones play covers.
However… “artists”… don’t become rich and famous copying the work of others no matter how well it’s done.

Absolutely,in the day we did plenty of covers as well as originals(slipped a few in every gig).

All great bands have a train song:Locomotive Breath/Station To Station/Train/Train Kept A Rolling ect.

Our train song was a original,Freight 88.

A bar/party band ect. needs to do covers or usually be ignored.

On a side note, while the world sucks big time there is good news, here’s today’s:

James – I used to follow a local band whose lead singer sounded just like Janis Joplin, but was a real “dark-haired beauty with points of her own, sitting way up high”. They had a lot of original songs and would play one or two every set, but their fall back was Joplin songs. Everyone knew them and sang along. Their lead singer used to do back-up vocals for some pretty famous bands, including U-2, when they would record in Memphrica.

They never got rich and famous, but made some coin while having a lot of fun.

Back in the day (70’s- early 80’s) there were venues in L.A. that cover songs were forbidden.
That’s when the music scene raged uncontrolled.
The good old days.

Saw them a few years ago at the Cabooze when they were touring that album. Fantastic. Billy Zoom has correct opinions. He’d fit in here. John Doe less so, but they must get along.

But bands who want to work do. No one gives a shit about original music live at a bar. They want to hear songs they know.

There just aren’t enough people capable of writing good songs. At all. You can work at it for years but if you don’t have it, you don’t have it. Same goes for novelists, comedians, etc. If performers were somehow required to only play originals it might spawn a few good songs, but it would spawn 98% more dogshit. It’d be like requiring every chef to only serve their own original recipes. Sometimes you just want a mushroom Swiss burger or the fajitas. And that’s OK.

Iska,at times writing a song mentally/then putting it to music can take weeks/sometimes months till you like it.

That said, wrote a original I liked and went over well live in a hour or so with band, really no long term changes.

Sometimes you hit gold first shovelful/sometimes mine for months and still not happy.

I feel this is true in all creative processes.

I fire up YouTube and show my 9 year old daughter videos of concerts constantly. The Killers playing Oxygen, the Stones playing Hyde Park, INXS at Wembley, Queen at Live Aid, etc. This whole charade is not lost on her as she makes the observation constantly about how people LIVED before they were sold fear writ large. At nine she blows holes right through their quasi-circular logic about masking and vaxxing and random dictates by our betters. I am heartened by the fact that TPTB are creating an entire generation of ardent libertarians right under their own noses. TPTB should realize that the pendulum isn’t the only thing that swings at the end of a rope.

Don’t project your daughter’s awareness onto the young population at-large. She’s an exception, not the rule.

I think this fits in here. Leftists are known for NOT being funny…
Except this article is hilarious.

Humour has become a central weapon of extremist movements to subvert open societies and to lower the threshold towards violence. Especially within the context of a recent wave of far-right terrorist attacks, we witness “playful” ways in communicating racist ideologies.

It looks like the European Commission is very afraid of truth-telling Patriots and the fact-finding Alt Right!

I heard yesterday Charlie Watts will miss his 1st Stones concert since 1962. He’s 80 now. Damn, I’m feeling old.

Never seen the Stones. Charlie Watts is the only reason I’d want to see them – unless they had Mick Taylor in tow. Bobby Keys, Nicky Hopkins, Mick Taylor – those were the guys who made the Stones good. No need to spend $300 to see Jagger do aerobics and croak out Paint it Black at double speed.

No. Jagger and Richard made the Stones what they are. One of the truly amazing bands of all time. Absolute forces of nature. If you have four good songs, you’re in the major leagues. They’ve got 40. To see them in their prime was a major event. You missed out.

Brian Jones put the magic into their early songs: just think how ordinary “Under My Thumb” and “Ruby Tuesday” would be without the marimba and recorder, respectively. He was an instrumental genius, but couldn’t write lyrics; he put the band together originally…

I went to the airport the other day to pick up the wife. I was pretty much the only one w/o the diaper; had to wait awhile so I just watched all the sheeple pass by. I can’t decide who the most pathetic are … the masked parents with their masked kids in tow — or the big, tatted-up tough guys with a fucking diaper virtually negating their existence.

Masked up here in Nevada again, went to the nearby bar and legal brothel last night to have couple beers.
The ‘ladies’ working the lounge are taking the masking order in stride with humor and some creativity.
I’ll leave the thoughts of their creativity up to your imagination……
