I watched this video….. is it just me, or did Dr. Kevorkian bear an uncanny resemblance to Dr. Fauci?

Meme warriors, assemble!

Wow, I had no idea! I don’t generally pay much attention to celebrities or their doings, but based on these 2 tweets old Norm was a fine, upstanding and intelligent man.

RIP

He also had a recurring guest part in the tv show The Middle. Played the brother Rusty. Very quirky, typical Norm MacDonald delivery.

Well, here’s the thing ….. millions of people have heard of Norm McDonald. Millions like him. Unlike you … an Anon coward … he has a name. He’s a somebody.

You? No one knows you. No one likes you. You don’t even have a name. You are a nobody, a real nowhere man.

So, who is actually a worthless do-nothing dreg? You, of course.

Not a fan, huh?

Listen, not a lot of people understand the mechanics of joke writing and even fewer appreciate the art of crowd control, the two mainsprings of performing standup. Norm was the best of the best in both spheres. Some guys write tremendous material but can’t sell it, others have great charisma but are hack writers. When both skills come together you get something special. Norm was not only accomplished at both of them, he was driven by some internal engine to always improve and expand his ability to tell a joke. He was a master at it, he shared his talents with others freely, he encouraged real comics with talent and he ripped away a lot of the pretense that show business is always building up like walls around those with little or no talent, relentlessly. It cost him his job at SNL (it was the OJ jokes, not the Conan interview) because he knew he was mining a deep vein of funny material even if it made some people uncomfortable and that was his job- to find every nugget of what made something humorous and tweak the shit out of it until was used up.

He had impeccable timing, he had a face and a kindness that allowed him to push things further than anyone else and a commitment to see the joke through no matter how long of a path he had to take to build up the right amount of tension before the punchline. You don’t have to be a fan of comedy to sense it even watching a single joke. He draws you in as if he isn’t telling one. And if you do enjoy it and understand some of the skills involved in doing it well, then you see him building these beautiful little setups, every hem and haw, the repetitions and guideposts that lay it out before he springs the trap that you saw coming even if you didn’t know how he was going to get there-like the moth joke, or the professor of logic story. He involves you, right from the get go, and he almost helps you to compose the joke in your own head so that you didn’t just listen to someone tell you a joke, he made you fell as if you’d come up with it yourself.

Norm was a great guy before he was a fantastic comic and the two came together to make him something very special as a person. I’m so sorry he went so soon, but he left a huge wake behind his passage through his time.

R.I.P., Norm.

It is pretty rare that a comedian achieves such success by being authentic. I thought he was a cool dude with a drinking problem.

Excellent!

1 Corinthians 1:19-21 KJB… “For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”
