Been working for money for the last 52 years. Constantly without interruption sincr finishing high school, including during 4 years of college.
If I wanted to go to the movies when I was a kid, I had to foot the bill myself. Started mowing lawns when I was 8. I then went through a lot of other jobs as I worked my way through school. I threw papers, stocked groceries, janitor, gas pump jockey, county road repair crew and 46 years in the business world after college. Retired 5 years ago and now volunteer as a handyman for the elderly and work on my property.

We were just pimply faced kids pumpin’ gas, checkin’ tires, washin’ windshields and trying to make enough money for gas, movies and a few burgers. I especially enjoyed washing windshields in the summer when the girls were wearing very short shorts. 😉

I remember sitting through an HR presentation on discrimination and at the end realized that I was one of the few people in the room who was not in a “protected class”. It becomes quite sobering to know that the black guy in the next cubicle has more job protection than me and the black woman on the other side has more than him.
