I believe the pandemic response was, at best, ineffective. This pandemic followed the pattern of all pandemics before it. A highly contagious first stage. A brief period of virus recession than an even more virulent stage. After another brief recession a milder version of the virus. There will be some more surges but they will be more and more infrequent. Just like previous pandemics.
The effects of the mandates however will be experienced, with all there negative veroscity, for quite some time to come. Inflation, societal dysfunction, perhaps even nuclear war, will plague us (forgive the pun) for at least a decade, or longer.
