Interesting story. However I can’t find the original story which was very interesting so I’ll just describe the high marks. During the mid 40’s hospitals began complaining to Kodak about spots showing up on their x-rays which Kodak provided. So Kodak sent one of their scientist out to discover why their x-ray films were developing spots. So, the scientists go back to New York City with their Geiger counters which they take into their high rise offices. It begins to snow and suddenly all their Geiger counters begin going off. So back then, anytime you thought you were walking in a winter wonderland you were actually being irradiated. The military told Kodak to keep their mouth’s shut and they’d pay for any damages to their film. This went on for years and Kodak never brought what was going on to the publics attention. Personally think it is great advice. New Yorkers should go into their homes or wherever and not come out till told to, preferably by an expert such as Chuck Norris. Shut the blinds and do not even look out. Do not use the elevator because it will be a deathtrap if the power goes out, which can happen at anytime, day or night. Conserve water so do not flush the toilet. Trust absolutely no one except maybe the rapper Ice T, or maybe that is Mr. T, its one of them, they all look alike so be careful.

EMP will take out the grid and without the grid, there is no running water to take that shower you need, no lights, no A/C, no internet, no cell phone service, no TV, no radio, ad infinitum.

I know I am almost alone in this opinion, but the 1950s “duck and cover” made excellent sense. Yes, yes, I realize that if you are in the central blast zone it will do you zero good. On the other hand, for those there it won’t do any harm either. So who will it help? Essentially anyone who is beyond the total destruction zone. Burning and damage from the initial flash, while brief, can at least be mitigated somewhat by a quick drop to cover. More importantly, moving to cover lessens injury from flying window glass and debris. Getting beneath a desk helps protect from falling ceiling or roof pieces. Is duck and cover perfect? Hell no. Would it save thousands of children in schools and other locations NOT in the immediate blast zone? Absolutely. Think of it as similar to the protective steps you would take if a tornado were in the neighborhood.
Then we can all die slowly from radiation poisoning. Or are the bombs “clean” these days. People are freaking nuts.
Nuclear bombs ain’t real and nuclear power is fake and gay, too. We’re all humans and neanderthals sharing God’s flat earth together, so we better learn to love one another right now.
