Putin Made a Peace Offer. Take it.

Guest Post by

Vladimir Putin has just about finalized the accession of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), plus the Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, into the Russian state. This is a peace offer, even if precious few will recognize it as such. Putin was never eager to make this move, it took him 8 years to recognize the independence of DPR and LPR, but it was the only solution left.

As State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin put it this week: “..accession to Russia is the only way to save the people living in the four former Ukrainian territories from shelling by Ukrainian troops. “The only way to end this is reunification [with Russia].” Obviously, Ukraine and the west label the accession, and the referendums that “solidified” it, illegal, but it’s not under Russian law, and that is what counts for Putin.

After the votes, the situation was scrutinized by Russian Constitutional Court, the Duma, every institution that Russian law requires. Not perhaps international law, whatever that is, but why would Russia bother with that? How, for instance, does “international law” view the killing of 14,000+ Russians living in Ukraine since 2014, by Ukrainian forces?

The US-driven Maidan coup, where an elected president was ousted, in violation of “international law”, is a place to start. The ill-begotten hodge-podge patchwork state of Ukraine was always an accident waiting to happen. Cramming people together into a state who don’t like each other historically, has never been a bright idea. But since for 70 years or so, Ukraine was just a piece of the Soviet Union, there was a kind of peace for that time.

That changed when the wall came down and the Soviet Union dissolved. In the first decade or so after that, everyone was too busy taking care of themselves -especially the oligarchs and CIA agents in the country. But when the dust was settled, Putin was leader of Russia, and he prevented the US from taking over Ukraine -and much more.

This map that Elon Musk reposted a few days ago shows what we already know, that Ukraine as a country was a crazy idea. You can’t have that kind of division and expect a very long time to thrive. In 2012, Yanukovich was democratically elected, he had more votes, and in 2014, Nuland, McCain et al decided they did not like that.

Here’s a video of Petro Poroshenko, the chocolate prince who became the 2nd president, talking about the Russian speaking people in the east. For western Ukraine, they were little more than cattle. But there were more of them than of western Ukrainians, so a coup was needed. No problem for Nuland, but a problem for Putin. Russia protects Russians, wherever they live. Watch the English subtitles.

This is why Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24 2022, that and the increasing threat of NATO-allied troops and equipment on the border. And said: no nukes, no NATO, no nazis. Of course, the nazis still have Zelensky under control, reneging on his campaign promise to seek peace, NATO moved close than ever, and boy, would they love to get their hands on some nukes.

And that is why Putin decided to take over the 4 regions. It was the only way he saw to protect the Russian people living there. He was, and is, probably right.

Now, Ukraine and Zelensky claim there is a history that makes all of present day Ukraine a state with solid borders, culture, language etc., but it was only in 1922, 100 years ago, that the borders were drawn, under Soviet leadership, and, as I said, it was just a patchwork thing. There is a Ukrainian history, but it’s on a much smaller piece of land than what is today touted as Ukraine.

So, sorry, but there’s not much there. Russia, and Putin, were happy to have Ukraine as a friendly neighbor, they’re all Russians in a broad sense anyway, but not as a country that hosts nazis, NATO and perhaps nukes.

Now that the 4 regions have been declared part of Russia, there is no way back. Zelensky may have big words about taking lost territory back, including Crimea, but to do that, he would have to beat the no. 1 nuclear power in the world. And that is Putin’s peace offer: we’ve taken those parts of your country where you were shelling Russians, and you can have the rest of it, provided you don’t use it to threaten us, and “us” also means the 4 regions.

You may today have troops in a region that is considered Ukrainian, but it is now no longer that. It is Russian. And that is completely different from shelling people on your own territory. Add to that, that Europe is getting de-industrialized, and frozen, and hungry, and you should all ask yourselves if perhaps somewhere in this process you went off the rails. You can apply another 10 rounds of sanctions, but those also will hurt you more than us.

Russia is betting a safe bet: that the people currently in charge in the west, no longer will be when the winter is over. There will be some, but most will be thrown out by the people they failed when they bet on beating Russia with untold billions of funds provided to those in charge of the most corrupt country in Europe. Instead of their own citizens.

And as for the recent advances of the Ukraine/NATO army in the 4 regions: all those troops now find themselves on Russian territory. Which is exactly what everyone tried to prevent. Russia let them go for a while, and withdrew its troops, waiting for the territory to become Russian. And now it is.

Basically, Putin’s peace offer is: we have what we needed, now leave us alone. You know very well you can’t beat us, so let’s sit down and talk.

Looks like the Crimea bridge was damaged in a truck bomb explosion, so that should calm things down in the region considerably. Sarc. Frankly I hope every single one of the Western assholes that keeps spurring this conflict on gets it revisited on them ten fold.

Not good news for Ukraine , fer shure’.

“According to various media reports, Surovikin was given the nickname ‘General Armageddon’ by his colleagues, citing his hardline and unorthodox approach to military operations.

Surovikin took charge of the ‘South’ grouping during Moscow’s military campaign in Ukraine. In late June, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that his troops had eliminated a major Ukrainian force encircled in the area of Gorskoye, in the Lugansk People’s Republic.”

I am uncertain it was a truck bomb. Lots of phosphorous sparks and I mean lots. The damage is not what you would expect from a truck bomb because the blast from those goes 180 degree up and out as the line of least resistance and the road is a highly resistant pre stressed plank structure of concrete and reinforcement steel. This was a bunker buster type explosion, probable long range and not anything Ukraine has access to. Russians will slowly gather evidence and after the gas pipeline incident may do a reprisal that will shake the Earth. This was Putin’s 70th Birthday present and that bridge was a straw that blew out Ukraine’s candles. There can be no response other than, regrettably, full response at a time which suits them. Sorry but someone overstepped a line and we, the whole earth are at risk. Russia has the right to reply after all and it will be a judgement I would not like to be under

Certainly not the only “badies”.
Have there been any “goodies” during the period?

It seems to me as if all the various people we illegally made war on, were already making war on someone else, and their aim was usually “peace through enforced “Communism””

The root of these current problems is that current models of government have failed badly, and that failed governments usually turn to war in hopes of maintaining or increasing their power over people.

The first goal we should have is to return our government to its proper legal form.

No handouts, no enforced imposition on others to confiscate their wealth to give it to newly arrived immigrants, no guaranteed medical care or anything else except often the privilege of going to public schools where they existed.

“There is no antidote, he writes, against the opium of time. The winter sun shows how soon the light fades from the ash, how soon night enfolds us. Hour upon hour is added to the sum. Time itself grows old. Pyramids, arches and obelisks are melting pillars of snow. Not even those who have found a place amidst the heavenly constellations have perpetuated their names: Nimrod is lost in Orion, and Osiris in the Dog Star. Indeed, old families last not three oaks. To set one’s name to a work gives no one a title to be remembered, for who knows how many of the best of men have gone without a trace? That may explain why he has been so patient and careful. He wants to create a multi polar world where no one nation or people are the king of the castle. What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children–not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women–not merely peace in our time but peace for all time.”………

“So, let us not be blind to our differences–but let us also direct attention to our common interests and to the means by which those differences can be resolved. And if we cannot end now our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity. For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. “In this verse, you can easily see why the rush to get out. If this was the siege that took place when Jerusalem fell to the Romans, then close to a million were estimated to die. I tend to believe that this Scripture was not only for that terrible time, but is also speaking of another terrible time that will come when the antichrist begins his rule in the Tribulation period.

Matthew 24:22 “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”

“Those days shall be shortened”: If the afflictions of this time were to continue, “no life would have been saved,” i.e., no one would survive. But “for the sake of the elect” (so that redeemed people do not suffer more than they can bear), the time is “cut short”, i.e., held short of total destruction. Both (Dan. 7:25 and Rev. 12:14), suggest that the actual length of time the Beast will be permitted to terrorize the world is fixed at 3-1/2 years.”

GREAT resource, IMHO:

It all applied to ad70 and the destruction of first century Jerusalem by Titus
and the roman army. Nero as an individual and Rome corporately was the beast
of revelation. Nero passed in June of ad68 he set the 3-1/2 years, for a time, times, and
half a time, 1290 days in motion. These are all used in scripture to indicate the great tribulation
that the whole land of Palestine underwent from sometime beginning in ad67 to
September of ad70

Ammonium nitrate and diesel fuel. Otherwise known as ANFO, the Oklahoma bombing. Also used in mining to remove earth to obtain target minerals. Very powerful, cheap and easy to make. Don’t try this at home, you could blow up your entire neighbor hood.

Yep… and a van full of it couldn’t bring down the targeted building. Huge amount of destruction and death but the building still stood. But apparently you could put enough ANFO into a B-52 and drop it… to fake a nuke…

Looked at it. I see a shadow and wave emerging right before the explosion. Not sure what to make of it. I will go with a “developing story”. If it was a drone strike, war is absolutely eminent. Would have been easier to swallow if it was a low tech ANFO. A drone strike rules out the Ukrainians armament.

October 9, 2022 11:04 am

A ton or more of explosives??? Why? Perhaps a ton needed for ANFO but then if you are using a drone I’m kinda pretty sure that those persons wouldn’t be loading it up with fertilizer. I think they’d probably have access to some rather more compact and energetic explosives other than diesel and fertilizer.

I dunno… I suppose if they can drop an ANFO bomb out of a B-52 to fake an atomic bomb, then anything is possible… done with that spiff??

m
m
  brian
October 9, 2022 2:35 pm

Why?
Maybe because the aquatic drone is much further away from the bridge section than the truck driving on it

What was the ratio? 7:1? 11:1? NOT very good with ‘Molar’ Measurements, or whatever it’s called . maybe by weight?

In our mines we use it. we bore holes in the ground to reach the deposits geologist have identified as good minerals. They can be down 100′ or more. We load the holes with ANFO at a determined ratio and amount based on explosive power required. We then set detonator’s in the holes and wire back to a safe location. Then a visual site inspection is performed. After 3 loud blasts of a siren lasting 30 seconds each we detonate. These blast show up on the USGS earthquake maps. It is quite a sight to behold. I was not saying it was ANFO, just helping to describe a “fertilizer bomb”.

Different processes for mining and destroying structures. While mining blasts look spectacular they really only fracture the rock and the weight/momentum do the real work.

Structural blasts, from what I’ve read, take a far more directed energy dump to destroy things that ANFO couldn’t do. Otherwise why wouldn’t demolition companies just use ANFO to bring down buildings?? Cheap but not effective.

Boogieman
Boogieman
  brian
October 9, 2022 12:59 pm

ANFO is extremely powerful and enough of it could not knock down a city block with ease. Its not used in controlled demolition for various reasons. The same reasons we don’t use it for breaking large rocks. We use TNT for that kind of demo work. Using ANFO to demo a building would be hard to control due to how it’s used and the quantities that would be required for shearing steel. Your not try to level the building with the explosion, your just trying to destabilize it’s support structure with a directed energy charge so it will collapse under it’s own weight. ANFO is not kept on site. It is order in the exact quantity needed for the event. It is regulated and controlled. Every last drop is accounted for.

I believe the only “just war” is a defensive war.

Russia took Ukrainian territory beginning (this time), in 2014 with Crimea.

Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb 24, 2022.

Now Russia wants “peace” including 5 eastern Ukraine provinces.

“Recall a bit of history: Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and Secretary of State James Baker (representing President George H. W. Bush) solemnly agreed in principle that the old USSR would disintegrate into various new “republics,” and in return NATO would not advance beyond its current borders, that is, would not take in those former Eastern Bloc countries (e.g., Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the Baltics, etc.), an action which would be seen as directly hostile and offensive to a greatly reduced Russian Federation.”

VOX: Speaking of the US, I am curious to know what the general opinion in Israel is of the American neocons who, like you said, have been trying to overthrow Assad. They have overturned the Ukrainian government, the Libyan government, the Iraqi government, etc. What is the general view of the neocons in Israel?

MVC: Oh, we love them. The Israelis are very happy to fight the Arabs and the Iranians with American blood. During the first Gulf War, Israel was then under Yitzhak Shamir and did whatever it could to encourage an American invasion of Iraq. I wouldn’t say that this was decisive but they tried. It was the same when the Americans invaded Iraq for the second time. It was the same when Americans clashed with Iran over nuclear weapons. Each time you can see this very consistently. You can see the Israeli Right and, to some extent, even the Left say okay, this is lovely, we are going to let the Americans put the chestnuts in the fire for us.

Myself, I must say, that I dislike this policy very much. But certainly most Israelis like it. They like to be on the side of the strong as I see it. They push America as much as they can into these ventures. Just today I saw a famous t-shirt that says “Don’t worry America, Israel is behind you.” I also know that some Americans, like Pat Buchanan, have been writing that these lousy Israelis have been trying to use American for their own purposes and have unfortunately they have succeeded. So, personally I am not happy about this policy. I think that it may well one day act as a boomerang.

VOX: Do you think it is bad for Israel to be dependent in that way?

MVC: Yes, because, as we say in Hebrew, “the one who’s got the money has the say.” It’s bad in several ways, it is bad in the sense that we are tilting too much in the Republican direction. That is a bad thing in my view. It’s not bipartisan. There is a danger that one day support for Israel will probably fade and people will say enough of this. They will say Israelis are exploiting us with American-Jewish help. They are exploiting us for their own purposes. Let them go and fight their own wars. I have been warned more than once by my American friends that this is one day going to happen. It hasn’t happened yet but it is going to happen one day and it worries me. Frankly, it worries me.

VOX: Yeah, you don’t want to use your allies on a war that you don’t need and then not have their support when you actually need it.

MVC: Exactly.

Probably it was thought when Gorbachev agreed to dismantle the Soviet Union (which was collapsing anyway under the weight of central planning), the U.S. and NATO surmised that all the republics would be allowed self determination and were surprised when they were instead sucked into the Russian Confederation, which then became expansionist. That made Europeans nervous, especially those who had lived under the Soviet boot.

Stalin’s War
Sean McMeekin

The problem with this apologia is that it was not only German
women who were raped as the Red Army crashed into Europe in
1945, but Polish, Hungarian, Romanian, and Czech women too. In
Berlin, in the belly of the Nazi beast, Red Army soldiers raped even
Jewish women, including girls interned at a Holocaust “transit camp”
on Schulstrasse. Fed on Ehrenburg’s agitprop diet of indiscriminate
bloodthirstiness, for most Red Army soldiers it was a matter of “Frau
ist Frau”: a woman is a woman. This kind of thinking was consistent
with the indiscriminate logic of retribution, of atrocity and counteratrocity, that had defined the bloodlands ever since Stalin’s pact with
Hitler had erased the borders of Eastern Europe in September 1939.
It reached its culmination in the expulsion of over six million ethnic
Germans—most of them women, children, and elderly men—from
their homes in areas of Prussia absorbed into western Poland to
accommodate Stalin’s annexation of eastern Poland, followed by
another more than six million German speakers expelled from
Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Yugoslavia. At least
500,000, and possibly as many as 1.5 million, civilians perished in
this forgotten mass deportation.32
The Soviet mass rapes, civilian murders, and deportations of
1945 were significant not because they were unique, but because
they were a harbinger of what lay in store for anyone liberated by the
Red Army. Eastern Europe had been Sovietized. Next it would be
Asia’s turn.
