SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Southern Raised Bluegrass Performs “Orange Blossom Special”

Good morning gentlemen, thank you for another fine round of music.

Thought I would share a little diddy I ran across on youtube. This group has proved to be a real gem.

There is a surprise or two woven into the last parts of their Orange Blossom Special. Enjoy!

I would like to see Khatia do Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto.

Vilnius City Opera: Jonas ir Greta Maximoje

We’re going off the beaten path again this week.

The Music Mafia enjoys a good flash mob, so we’ll present a few of those today. I personally enjoy a good flash mob. I enjoy the looks and smiles on the unsuspecting observers, and the way that music in such a setting can breech barriers, and bring people together. A flash mob can change your day and your outlook on life, if only for a few minutes.

We’ll begin with the Vilnius City Opera performing Italian opera at a grocery store in Vilnius Lithuania.

Sacla’ Stage Shopera in London Foodhall

Next, we have some more Italian opera in a grocery store.

Christmas Food Court Flash Mob, Hallelujah Chorus – Must See!

Next up is a Christmas flash mob at a mall.

Over 100 people performed the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.

This video has been up for 10 years and has over 55 million views.

Drakes Supermarkets Opera Flash Mob

We’ll follow that with a trip to Drakes Supermarket where once again they sing apiece from Giuseppe Verdi’s la Traviata.

The piece is titled “Libiamo ne’lieti calici.” Translated it is “Let’s drink from joyful cups.”

Russian song Kalinka Malinka at mall by choir

This next one comes to us from Russia.

Ritchies Mt Eliza Flash Mob – Bocelli’s ‘Time To Say Goodbye’

This next one comes to us from Ritchies Food and Wine Merchant in Mt Eliza, Australia.

The musical group Pot-Pourri performs Bocelli’s “Time To Say Goodbye.”

Sacla’ Stage a Surprise Opera in a School Lunch Hall

Next, some very young kids get an up close introduction to Italian opera.

Flashmob: Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen

This next flash mob is from Pfaffikon, Switzerland.

The mobsters play Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.

Flash Mob Blues Brothers – Peschiera del Garda – ufficiale

We’ll finish this up with a piece from Verona Italy. However, it’s not exactly Italian music.

They play Blues Brothers.

I hope you enjoyed some or all of these flash mobs.

Have a great Sunday.

Paganini: Violin Concerto No.1

Violinist: Sarah Chang Conductor:

Zubin Mehta Berliner Philharmoniker NICCOLO PAGANINI Allegro maestoso from violin concerto No.1 D major op.6

Opera Company of Philadelphia “Flash Brindisi” at Reading Terminal Market (April 24, 2010)

We’ll finish up this Sunday of music with me following nkits fine selections of flash mob selections with one of my favorite ones.

And with all due respect to our Admin, it’s from Philadelphia.

I’m sure that this happens to he and Mrs. Admin every time they go shopping…

On Saturday, April 24th, 2010, the Opera Company of Philadelphia teamed up with the Reading Terminal Market Italian Festival for a large-scale “Flash Opera” event!

Over 30 members of the Opera Company of Philadelphia Chorus and principal cast members of LA TRAVIATA performed the famed “Brindisi” in the aisles of Reading Terminal Market, entertaining hundreds of Philadelphians, and proving that the perfect accompaniment for all things Italian is a little Verdi!

The Opera Company sincerely thanks members of the Opera Company of Philadelphia Chorus and cast for generously volunteering their time and talents.

The Classic Music Mafia – Adding some class to this joint one Sunday at a time.

Heaven help us…

Brilliant picks Steve C and nkit, thank you – you are doing great – on the other hand we are sinking fast here in UK as Mr Sunak (WEF Handmaiden) takes over. I hear BoJo is massing forces to oust him – Arghh – meet the new boss – worse than the present one! Happy days and this is so appropriate as we have our own Genghis Khan installed!

) In Praise of Genghis Khan, performed by Khusugtun: – brilliant traditional music. it reminded me of when I visited Texas in 1997 and spent some time at a Reservation. Their music was awesome and I bought a couple of their CDs – they are great to meditate to in those early hours just before dawn.

Go well dear friends 🙂

I have wondered about the creation and schooling of a conductor and found a marvelous video of this amazing lady. It is an hour long and worth the time for the evolution and growth of an international star.

Here she is with this performance showcasing her skills. A few more on the sidebar.

One more submittal for my favorite guitar piece with a mega-talented young musician!

First performance by a young guy on a six-string.

Second performance by a senior master player on his ten-string.

Another by the SUPERB young guy on an OLD very valuable guitar.
