Look Around. Anywhere. ‘Evolution’. Please.

Trash. Trash ‘People’. Too Stupid to ‘Know’ that the untilrecentlyEVERYfriggin’thingwas closedonturkeyday ‘Municipal Landfill’ was closed.

1) leave it in your ‘vw microbus’ until the dump opens.
2) unload it and then reload it…When the dump opens.
3) Quit associating with trash.

People of ALL stripes. Including a local bank. (They hired the ‘Low Bidder’ to haul away old ‘paperwork’ with their name ALL OVER Everything. PAID for a ‘professional’ clean-up of their trash and then some)

Always Shocked the people when i emerged, ALL were successfully ‘Encouraged’ to Take their garbage with them, having SX-70 pics of the people in the act with their cars/license plates.

The ones i didn’t catch red handed? Their names/Addresses on myriad pieces of mail.

Local ‘Law Enforcement’ said…
“Nothing could be done.” Said several of the names i had submitted claimed the BAGS OF GARBAGE had Been STOLEN.

Once i started drinking? An Epiphany.

Several Times. myself. or with a few buddies. several ‘dumps’ within a few miles of Home. Even Took Spare bags to gather up what was scattered by the animals.

Typically 3 -4 ‘Recovery of Stolen property’ Operations would fill up a HEAPING 3/4 ton pick-up.

Returned the stolen property to its ‘Rightful Owner’.

Unbelievably, some fucking smart-ass moron went right back to the exact same spot the next nite. And Threw MY bags there.

OK. Returned the property. Gave the ‘Property Theft Victims’ a chance to enjoy picking up the garbage out of their own yards.

Went on for a full winter….Somehow, the County cops caught wind of just whom said perpetrator might be…

‘No officer sir. i did NOT scream at the top of my lungs while drunk…
IF i see You throwing trash I’m MY HOLLER again, i’m gonna…’

Sorta put the kibosh on that activity. For a minute. waited a yr. Then i started blowing out their tires.

Only took 2 episodes, 2 mos. apart, Thankfully. Waste of 2 good weekend nights. Sober. in a tree stand.

Way before ‘Smartphones’. Back home and in bed and nobody was the wiser.

Small town, word travels quick. ‘Effect’ was long lasting to say the least.

Catch me if You can.

Well, there you go. You’ve allowed your feelings from a negative experience to color your judgment of a timeless work of art. Common sense dictates you refrain from criticism due to bias.

Loved that song in my unrepentant youth. even after my local ‘solution’.

Then? I learned how to perform SIMPLE addition. ‘Stereotypes’ exist for a VALID reason.

Two more ‘Favorites’ from days of Yore.

Pure Bullshit. Too.

I saw Arlo Guthrie perform at Blossom Music Center outside of Cleveland, OH, in the ’70s … and a great performance it was.

He even did 4 encores — but would not — NOT — do ‘Alice’s Restaurant’ … no explanation ever given. That was a big disappointment after such a great concert.

He actually did that a lot from what I’ve heard. The length alone makes it a demanding performance. Live is a lot different than in studio.

That was the explanation I heard.

I saw Julian Lennon at Six Flags in ’86, around the time he had a few hits off his “Valotte” album (and also when the Beatles were suddenly resurgent because of Ferris Bueller singing “Twist and Shout”). When Julian came onstage he rather petulantly told us all he would not be doing any Beatles songs, so don’t ask. We were all just there to hear music, nobody cared who was playing, really: it was July, we were hot and sweaty and sitting on wooden amphitheatre benches. Actually, we came in there to get off the melting tarmac outside.

So Julian and his band started up, and all the young people ran up to the stage, and everyone received his music well; he finished his set, and he and the band all took a bow and exited stage left. We called them back out for an encore, and he obliged, did a couple more songs, then split again. We called them out for another encore, and he brought the house down by playing “Day Tripper” for his first song. A great concert moment for sure. We were all into it.

As fate would have it, about 8 years ago now, back when I was on Fecesbook, on Julian’s birthday I gave him best wishes, and I mentioned how memorable that concert was in ’86; to my surprise, he responded back to me telling me he too recalled that concert, and also how much he and the band enjoyed riding Six Flags’ roller coasters afterward. Good times.

(BTW, knowing how John treated him and his mother, Julian’s petulance at playing Beatles songs was understood. Imagine [pun intended] hating your father but looking and, especially, sounding just like him, even if he was a rock god.)

Used to do a 50 mile trek to have dinner with the in-laws and the local rock station would always play the song. Made the drive a bit better.
