Russia’s current account surplus almost doubled last year and hit a record high amid rising global energy prices and despite the imposition of Western sanctions, the country’s central bank reported on Tuesday.

The current account – which measures the difference between outgoing funds and money coming into the country through trade, investment and transfers – grew by almost 86% year-on-year in 2022 to $227.4 billion, the regulator’s preliminary data showed.

The central bank said soaring commodity prices throughout 2022 had helped push the current account balance higher, while imports slowly recovered in the second half of the year.

“The value of imports of goods and services was reduced,” the regulator said. “Nevertheless, the decline in imports observed in the first half of 2022 compared to last year’s indicator was replaced by their gradual recovery.”

Russia’s foreign trade surplus in goods and services also surged by 66% from $170.1 billion in 2021 to $282.3 billion last year, reaching a historic maximum for the second straight year.

It comes as Moscow has rerouted the bulk of its trade flows eastwards after Western sanctions largely disrupted supply chains with European markets. Trade between Russia and China soared by nearly a third in 2022 to over $190 billion, according to China’s customs data.

Most importantly they’re increasing the share of vital components (chips, circuitry) made within Russia. Russia is increasingly an autarky. If the US gins up a war with China over Taiwan (a “country” of 24 million the size of Maryland), China could sink the US economy by curtailing exports of basic things like electrical switches. God forbid India ever joined in and embargoed chemical precursors to medicines (or the medicines themselves), since the vast majority of the basic meds used within the US are made in India.

“the vast majority of the basic meds used within the US are made in India.”

China also on several specific items ….for example, they supply 95% of antibiotics.

Nations that sell more than they produce create wealth for their people.
The USA buys over $1,000,000,000,000 a year more than we sell.
Our wealth is transferred to the globalist elite and our people go broke.
As we can no longer export all the fake money we print, inflation will get worse.
We have to print more fake money to run our government and to pay interest on debt.
We have an installed government of corrupt pieces of shit.
We are a bankrupt nation entering accelerated decline.
Our people are fat, lazy, stupid and gay.
Plan accordingly.
Exit the $.

I hope the day comes where we quit fucking with the Russians.
I would love to visit there, especially Moscow with its beautiful architecture.

Even as kids we were brainwashed to view them as evil adversaries:

All propaganda.

I pay attention to the news and know for a fact that the russlies are in big trouble.

Their rubles are rubble and nobody as any money because the ukies are destroying the russkies. Its common knowledge to the informed that those evil russkies are eating the bark off the trees because grocery stores have no food left. The child eating russkie soldiers are fighting with sharpened sticks now because they are out of bullets. Putins dying of cancer, pneumonia, and and has syphilis with only a month to live and is in the midst of a coup from those more open to negotiating with murika.

Call your CONgress trannie supporting rep to send the ukies a few extra billion to finally and forever rid this rock of the evil russkie scourge forever.

Do it, for the children

Russia’s current account surplus almost doubled last year and hit a record high amid rising global energy prices and despite BECAUSE OF the imposition of Western sanctions BOYCOTTS AND SUPPLY CHAIN DISRUPTIONS.

People tell me the goal of TPTB is to crush and dismember Russia in order to further US/Western hegemony over the world.
TPTB are not stupid.
Therefore, they knew that the “sanctions”-that-are-not-sanctions would actually improve Russia’s bottom line vis-a-vis energy resources.
Therefore, total domination/dismemberment of Russia may not be the actual goal.
