Every Sunday and Thursday they deconstruct the mainstream news and make fun of them in the process. They like to include one or two clips from NPR because they are so easy to make fun of.
No ads but they thank all of their “producers” (listener supported). I usually fast forward through that part. I also wait until the next day and listen to the archived show.
They’ve been doing the podcast for 15 years but I only found out about them a couple years ago. I listen while doing chores. Makes the monotony of chores much more pleasurable.
I give NPR a full day every couple of weeks jut so I can keep up with the latest cra-cra. Modular furniture is racist. Asparagus can cause heart attacks. Climate change responsible for surge in childhood strokes. Tran-sexuals underrepresented in the NFL. Beethoven was African.
I actually heard each of those stories.
They are committed, I’ll give them that much.

Jimmy Dore is dead wrong about China not being our enemy. Yes, the MIC is continually spoiling for war anywhere, and everywhere. However, the Chinese have been very vocal about carrying out a first strike, probably nuclear, on the US when they believe we have been so weakened (or betrayed from within) that we will be unable to mount a meaningful response. Their navy is larger than ours and they are producing nukes at a furious pace to achieve that goal. The largely unknown fact is their economy is as much a house of cards as ours, so their military pursuits may be the only thing keeping it from collapsing completely. Just like ours.

It’s also funny how some conservatives are finally seeing how ridiculous it is to say we can’t afford to do anything for the mentally ill on our streets, while we scrounge up or print all the money needed to send ships to the Taiwan Strait to foment trouble. We can spend $100+ billion on our proxy war in Ukraine to “weaken Russia”, but God forbid we spend any money to benefit our own people.
It’s the horseshoe theory, and it makes sense. It’s also why, after decades of being instinctively anti-union, I find myself cheering unions on. Why should I favor Starbucks, Inc over their employees? I don’t shop there anyway. Why should I side with giant healthcare corporations over nurses when the corporate execs get paid tens of millions of dollars a year and insurance companies ass-rape their customers? The whole economy is a corrupt scam and the right plays its part by getting people to disregard their own interests because of an adherence to the theory of a free market that doesn’t exist in the real world.
A lot of those homeless are military veterans. They got used and then thrown away like so much trash because the mental illness that resulted from realizing the truth of what they were used for was too much for them.

I see that Jimmy Dore is coming here to Minneapolis in April. Interestingly, the venue he’s coming to doesn’t show him on their calendar. I wonder whether they’re afraid of being picketed or otherwise hassled by garden variety progs who consider Dore “right wing” or a “conspiracy theorist”.
Jimmy really hit it out of the park with that interview. Crammed an amazing amount in those 2 minutes. I, of course, don’t agree with everything he thinks (Medicare for all, etc) but am subscribed to his channel. He nails it most of the time.

Dore would do well to study Austrian Economics for a year or two, but in spite of everything, in spite of his self proclaimed liberal status, he still sees clearly that the US is being run by psychopaths. Some have an R after their name, some have a D, but Dore uses the same standards in judging them all. Dore really represents the OLD classical liberal mindset, the sort of view that JFK might have put forward.
The biggest problem in the US today is corruption has become the operational foundation of our government.
Take the military as an example. Everyone who has ever been in the Military or worked in a government agency is familiar with the acronyms FUBAR and SNAFU, which describe how everything in government functions.
The Military Industrial Complex does not have the primary mission of providing the best equipment to the military possible, it functions on the primary mission of getting as much taxpayer money as they possibly can. It’s secondary mission is to hype its wonder weapons as much as possible to obtain sales in other countries. To do this, it must design the most expensive weapons possible. To this end, it purposely designs weapons with design flaws, in order to get more money from the taxpayers down the road to fix the design flaws. This process is time consuming, and by the time the product is actually ready to field, our rivals have had plenty of time to figure out countermeasures.
None of this matters much, so long as these weapons systems are used against small poor countries with small budgets, old outdated equipment, and poorly trained troops. These weapons work great in this environment and that provides good advertisement for sales to other countries. Unfortunately, that is not situation we currently face. The reluctance of the US to send its frontline weapons into action in Ukraine has as much to do with fear of the world seeing it defeated as it does worry about technology transfer. Video footage of burning Abrams tanks or shot down F16’s are not exactly good advertising.
The military industries in both Russia and China are governmental owned, and under constant pressure to upgrade and build the best equipment they possibly can to offset the massive military budget of the US. The US military industry is mired in corruption buying politicians who approve contracts for systems designed to make the industry massive profits. This fact is being made obvious by the Russian victories in Ukraine, and something that I am sure China is looking at very closely.
Its becoming a race to see who can light this House of Cards and Monopoly Money Bank on fire 1st and claim that heroic title in history.
