Because the ultimate aim for the last 30+ years of the neocons/neolibs has been to dismember and plunder Russia. They say it out loud. Infiltrating the Ukraine, arming it and preparing it to be a base for eventual assaults on Russia has been a tactic in that plan. Stopping them in the Ukraine is necessary to ensure the continued existence of a sovereign Russia.
The aim of the neocons was clearly to use the US to fight for israel. No one but the Brzenksi (sp) types cared about Russia until recently. Of course the jews hold a grudge but they do against everyone. They would just as opportunistically rape Germany or any other host country again if they could.
