I read Iceland was bad. Germany far surpasses Iceland. When will people learn. Big pharma is the enemy.

Nope, Iceland’s excess mortality was 43.1% in December. https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/databrowser/view/demo_mexrt/default/table?lang=en

Be careful what you wish for. This type of crap has a way metastasizing. We should be focused on the individuals that spawned this mess no matter who or whom they are. JMO

They can’t keep getting away with it like they have for at least 300 years. Some look at it as 2500 years and still others say it has always been thus.

My 2 cents: This is particularly interesting in light of the fact that Germany had NO excess mortality in 2020 at all. They had below average mortality overall. Until the government panicked and had to adjust the numbers after the fact, that is. I believe that the reasons for that were that physicians in Germany, on average, did not follow any guidelines but rather did what they saw what worked: 1) They did not take part in the WHO study that used toxic doses of hydroxychloroquine, which killed so many in Belgium 2) they refrained from early intubation and high pressure ventilation, which killed so many in Italy.

The excess mortality must be viewed in light of vaccine numbers though.

(Interestingly, Portugal and Spain, although relatively highly vaccinated, report relatively low excess mortality. On the opposite end, Iceland has high excess mortality relative to its vaccine rate, similar to Germany. Does the warmer weather in the southern European countries with high baseline Vitamin D levels play a role? Data for Italy and Sweden aren’t available, which is unfortunate, given their important role at first as outliers when it comes to deaths of the elderly early on in 2020 in Italy and the unique path of Sweden. Also, notice the low vaccine uptake in the former communist Eastern bloc countries? That is not a coincidence. Likewise within Germany, there is a marked difference in attitude toward this recent government overreach between Eastern and Western Germany. Those who have lived under the iron boot on your face, even temporarily, don’t forget.)

It would have to be the government, so you know it is trustworthy.

Look at it this way:
If they had (some) excess mortality in 2020, that year would now be part of the comparison range, to which the current mortality is compared to detect ‘excess’.

In other words, it could be worse than 37.3% excess mortality now, because the denominator might be already a bit tainted.

It says at the bottom of the image that the baseline period is 2016-2019.
