SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
Anthony Aaron, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Amazing Grace PBS Bill Moyers

This magnificent song is the only good thing to come out of the slave trade … and hopefully it signaled the redemption of its composer for his part in that infamous period of our History …

Thankfully, there have been many versions of this song — in 1990 Bill Moyers hosted a PBS Special showcasing numerous versions of it …

Confutatis Amadeus movie plus scrolling music score

In searching for the scene in Amadeus, where Mozart, on his deathbed, is still creating, and trying to convey to Salieri the complex harmonies of the Confutatis / Lacrimosa to Salieri, who just struggles to understand the chaos,

it seems the scene has been scrubbed from YT, perhaps due to copyright infringements. Sad. I can’t recommend that movie enough.

BUT, here’s one guys transcript of it.

Maybe someone with better searching skills can find the scene online, and post it here.

Hey! Found one still up. Enjoy!

I don’t know why, but whenever I see Khatia, I think of a motorboat. I love watching her perform.

Amadeus is a great movie. The late Falco mixes it up. I think Amadeus would have approved.

If the piano isn’t to be played, put a fricken sign up that reads, “Do Not Play”. Can’t believe our Boogie Woogie guy almost got arrested. Boo!
