They do not just set an area on fire. They prepare an area for months first by killing vegetation and drying it out.

It’s summer. We have lightning storms and forest fires. The Boreal forest surrounding Hudson Bay from Manitoba through Ontario to Quebec has an average lifespan of 150 years before it burns and the cycle begins anew. I know. I live here. It’s called Thunder Bay. We had a lot of snow last winter but an early melt, so little soaked in. Unless we get much rain there’ll be a lot of fires this summer.
