WHAT HAPPENED TO BEAUTY?

Skyscrapers used to be Art Deco and neo-Gothic, so what happened?

Explain to me why Beauty is absent from our society. Throughout history, people created beautiful buildings in harmony with their environment and expressive of their culture and genome. What happened? Why have we been deprived of Beauty?

Reminds of how the UN building in NYC was christened to great fanfare many years ago. It is an aberration not unlike a pimple on the ass of freedom.

An example of ‘form follows function’ …

For most of history, art of all kinds — painting, architecture, music, writing — was a glorification and an honoring of our Creator … and that is no longer permitted.

Witness what passes for ‘beauty’ in people today … what with 400 pound twerkers and such as well as rainbow-colored hair and tattoos and piercings galore … ugly has become the norm — it’s part and parcel of destroying a culture and a race and its civilization.

It reaches a sort of high point of ugliness with the whole tranny movement … with gay men who won’t admit to being gay men trying to pass off their grotesque ‘vision’ of women as if that’s what women truly are or how they look.

How does Auntie know?

Simply look at the emblem on the flag: a “top down” look, and lookin like steaks on the barbeque. Yeah, that’s exactly what it looks like.

Top down global totalitarian rulership from the most corrupt forum the world has ever seen. And they are only a front for the B#RG* If vaxxine passport is enacted then for the most of the world might as well get a yellow or green ear tag and a brand.

Beauty elevates. To debase a culture robs its aspirations and momentum, making it that much easier to strip mine and hollow out.

All life is a struggle; against the passage of time, the elements, decay and, competing forces. To imagine that there is ever a time, or a place, or a people who are immune is to dream of something that has never been and will never be.

If you admire beauty, make it central to your life. If you desire growth, plant a seed. If you wish to live beyond your mortal existence, leave something behind. If you believe that you can overcome adversity, fight back with all your energy.

Since childhood every home we have lived in has had a new tree planted in the front yard upon our arrival, just like my immigrant grandfather did when he bought his first home. I take joy when visiting those places with their now majestic trees still looking over the families who followed us.

We’ve done that, too. In fact, our then 3 year old son planted it. Now approaches the height of the house and provides much appreciated shade in the summer on the southern side.

Laziness and corporate greed. Why spend millions to have custom crafted pillars and woodwork when you can get cheap Chinese steel beams and call it a day?

We are adding on to the house hopefully next summer and I am already preparing how I want to do things. We went and looked at cabinets at different places and they were all JUNK. So I will be taking some good black cherry trees out from the property and milling them to do cabinets. Counter tops are another area where the commercial industry produces crap. I have a local fella who does custom concrete formed counter tops. I don’t want to use cheap sheet rock for the walls, so will do nice knotty pine. Floors will be REAL hardwood, probably oak or maple.

It is not that it would be expensive, but requires work. Something people don’t want to do anymore.

People (craftsmen) died building those earlier buildings using the basic tools. Workmen swarmed a job site. Laws were created to keep that from happening, so prefab became the style. The Empire State Building was built in less than a year.
I imagine ninety percent of the crew on a building site today are non- white.

People still die today … that’s no excuse for having ugliness throughout our culture, especially in our publicly visible architecture.

I spent about 25 years in the construction industry, and I agree that a significant portion of construction crews are not US Citizens … they’re invaders from across our southern border. It’s been that way since I began in the industry in ’79 or ’80.

But the wages for these wetback framing crews — for one example — here in Clark County, WA, are the same as we were paying our crews in LA County in the ’80s … about $5.75 or so per square foot to frame semi-custom homes. There are issues, though, besides price of labor — the workmanship isn’t there — nor is the speed. My business partner and I were working owners of our construction company — and about 85% or so of our workers were black carpenters. They were the best of the best back in those days (’80s on into ’90s) in LA County … and we paid them wages that the local carpenter union authorized as piece rates. Our workers were earning upwards of $2,000 per week in those days … and a good 2 man framing team could frame a 2,000+ square foot house in about 8 work days … the wetback crews of today that I see number 5 to 7 ‘workers’ who take the same amount of time to do the same work. I’ll admit, though, that when I first moved to Seattle in the early-’90s, the local crews of White boys were just as bad as the wetbacks … 5-man crews would sometimes be splitting $1,200-1,500 per week among them … hardly breaking any records for productivity.

The materials of today’s construction industry is also a farce — OSB and its derivatives and plastics of all kinds have replaced real wood and copper and such virtually everywhere — and, as I tell folks I meet at the sites of the homes they’re building — if we’d have built homes this way in LA back in our days, the new owners would have searched us out and burned our homes down around us.

It is not the people that die on a large project that is the excuse, it is the government making laws and creating agencies to enforce those laws, all that cost huge amounts of money. They could not care less about workers deaths, only being on the taxpayer dole with the courts to back them. In fact these government people look down upon artistic craftsmen, they realize that they themselves have no ability to produce anything, just move papers and talk, they are envious. There is no deadline, no worries of the weather, material acquisitions, life is just peachy.
Shovel ready jobs, build back better, you didn’t build that, sound familiar?

Blame Henry Ford and the modern production line. Beautiful things require many hours of skilled labour to create. Modern manufacturing drastically increased the average factory workers productivity allowing wages to increase, pushing up labour costs across all sectors, making traditional craft building skills uneconomical. Modern building design and construction techniques aim to simplify and reduce construction costs, with no budget for labour intensive embellishments. This is why the beautiful building examples above date from the early part of last century, while the later ones are ugly. During the same period, the employment of maids and kitchen staff by middle class households declined, due to the same increase to labour costs.

A building is built for a purpose.
That primary purpose is rarely aesthetics…
….unless aesthetics are part of the sales pitch, like for a cathedral, a temple, a bank lobby, or a museum, a courthouse etc.

The farther back you go, the more beautiful the buildings. There’s no more art in architecture. All art forms have degenerated. Where’s the art in modern paintings and sculptures? The same applies to popular music. All garbage. We’re being taken back to the stone age. It’s all part of the plan for the New World Order being created.

I got an architectural degree in the early ’60s, after 5 years of study. The “less is more” rules of “Modern Architecture” held sway. Europeans like Van Der Rohe and Corbusier were gods. Frank Lloyd Wright was passé.
Ornamentation and decorative elements were considered wasteful. There was an aesthetic…of sleek glass blocks and bare concrete brutalism, minimalism. I left the field decades ago, but that bare bones style seems to be returning.

Take a look at the Main Cathedral Of The Russian Armed Forces that was opened on June 14, 2020 … it’s quite a masterpiece. It was dedicated on the 75th Anniversary of Russia’s victory in the Great Patriotic War — their name for WW2.

Consider wealth. If the money you use is backed by precious metals, it holds it value and purchasing power. When the government begins debasing the currency, or stealing the wealth of the nation, either through inflation or taxation, everyone has to do with less. That includes the folks who built these masterpieces in the past. It is no surprise then that the farther along we get from 1913, the worse looking, more inexpensively-built, all the architecture is. Inflation is an isidious and destructive tax that nobody “sees” but everyone feels, even it is only 1 or 2%. Add to that regulatory costs, permit costs, labor costs, compliance costs, etc. and the results are inevitable. Then throw in the public corporation where everyone outside of the company places demands on the company, and the problems only compound.
