Circa 1800 Jews in the Hapsburg German Principalities (there was no Germany), Austria-Hungry and Poland were required to take surnames. It was initially a Napoleonic order, but was reinstituted after Napoleon’s defeat. In the mid 1800s the Russians got in on the deal.
They generally took on names in whatever language they spoke (there was no Standard German and the language that eventually became Standard German was a minority language of the north. It was written, a literary language, more than it was actually spoken).

Also lumbrokinase, which works even better than nattokinase as a proteolytic enzyme (to break down protein). It seems to clear arterial blockages better, dissolving fibrin (protein).
