But one spokesman did say the following — “We price customers’ policies based on our view of risk and the rating factors we use, including the model of the car and inflation.” Which is to say, this is happening because as they get more experience with E.V.s, companies are increasingly realizing how much more expensive they are to insure.
When even a minor crash can damage the battery, the costs go through the roof. THAT is what they are finding. Additionally, if the crash is bad enough (but wouldn’t be that bad in a gasoline car), the batteries can catch fire and burn the entire car to the ground. And don’t think that some of these costs aren’t being passed on to the intelligent that have avoided these environmentally un-sound pieces of shit.
