THE TRAGIC REPUDIATION OF MARTIN LUTHER KING

“I have a dream that one day my children will be judged, not by the content of their character, but completely by the color of their skin.”   –  not  MLK –

The celebration of Martin Luther King Day should be a day of uplifting speeches about self-empowerment and personal achievement.  We should hear speakers expand on King’s dream of a colorblind society where people are judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.  We should hear about the character traits that lead to success… and hear warnings about the character defects that lead to failure.  We should be reminded to be grateful that we live in a land of opportunity, where people who work hard can achieve their dreams.

We should hear that, but we won’t.  We will hear a series of false narratives, designed to foster racial divisions and keep blacks on the Democrat Voting Plantation.  King’s legacy has been hijacked by race hustlers who profit from racial turmoil.

We will hear that Republican racism is what is keeping black people down.   Joe Biden’s theme that Republicans, “want to keep y’all in chains” will be repeated in many different ways. The goal will be to reinforce the walls around the Democrat Plantation.

We will hear that wealth inequality is completely the result of racism. Success has nothing to do with hard work or with delayed gratification.  We will be a racist country until everyone has equal amounts of everything, they say.

But, MLK’s goal of a colorblind society is the morally correct thing to strive for.  Current black ‘leaders’ have repudiated his “dream” and strive for the exact opposite approach. Skin color is everything. Judging a person by their character is not allowed. This is a reversion to the primitive tribal way of viewing the world.  It’s very destructive.

There is another important aspect of King’s advice that has been abandoned by today’s leftist leaders.  King stressed the importance of hard work and the need to become competent in a useful skill.

At a Philadelphia Jr. High in 1967, King told the students that building a good life was like constructing a building.  You need a “blueprint” for your life that includes “as the basic principle the determination to achieve excellence in your various fields of endeavor….  so, I would urge you to study hard, to burn the midnight oil.  And when you discover what you will be in your life, set out to do it as if God Almighty called you at this particular moment in history to do it. don’t just set out to do a good job. Set out to do such a good job that the living, the dead or the unborn couldn’t do it any better.”

He said, “If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music,…    Our slogan must not be ‘burn, baby, burn.’ It must be ‘build, baby, build’…’learn, baby, learn,’ so we can ‘earn, baby, earn.”

This is the advice that any wise parent would give a child.  Make a plan for your life, work hard to achieve it and seek to be great at what you do.  But todays black ‘leaders’ denigrate merit and competence as white supremacist values. They say, “Merit is embedded in the ideology of Whiteness and upholds race-based structural inequality. Merit protects White privilege.”

They reject MLK’s approach.  In a fair society, they say, all people deserve equal outcomes in life. They absurdly claim that racism is the only thing that can account for unequal outcomes.  Equity is their stated goal. Equity is equality of outcomes with no regard for effort. Imagine a world where incompetence is not a barrier to employment in any field.  [In my opinion, this approach has already been applied in government for many years, and we can see the results.]

King spoke about moral values.  He said, “The first principle of value that we need to rediscover is this: that all reality hinges on moral foundations. In other words, that this is a moral universe, and that there are moral laws of the universe just as abiding as the physical laws.”

Dr. King  told a congregation in 1961, “Do you know that Negroes are 10 percent of the population of St. Louis and are responsible for 58% of its crimes? We’ve got to face that. And we’ve got to do something about our moral standards.  We know that there are many things wrong in the white world, but there are many things wrong in the black world, too. We can’t keep on blaming the white man. There are things we must do for ourselves.”

The criminal subculture is much worse now than it was in King’s time.  Blacks commit an astoundingly disproportionate number of crimes in this country.  And the primary victims are other blacks.

In St Louis, 57 years after King’s speech there, the City’s black Safety Director discussed the record number of murders.  He said,  “One hundred percent of the people that were caught and accused of [murder] were African-Americans. We have to address that.”  He said, “We cannot go forward and continue King’s dream unless we look in the mirror and address that problem. That’s a problem that’s on us.”

The murder rate among blacks nationally is nearly 700% higher than for whites.

If virtue signaling is your goal, then placing a “Black Lives Matter” sign on your lawn will work to make you so proud of yourself.  But if you actually care about black lives, you will seek real world solutions to the problems created by the violent black subculture.  Step one will be to talk about this huge problem honestly. King said, “The silence of the good people is more dangerous than the brutality of the bad people.” He said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

Good people care about the dissolution of the black family.  They care about the misogyny and the celebration of violence that is part of that subculture.  They care about the disfunction of government schools where the thug elements set the standards.  They care about all the good black people who suffer under this system the most.

In big cities where blacks have run every institution for decades, it is ludicrous to blame ‘institutional racism’ for the increasing disfunction of their cities.  But they still sell that lie.  And they are ever more insistent in saying that all problems in the black community are caused by “white supremacists”.  Every year their anti-white racism is more strident. Governments support it, businesses support it, and educational institutions support it.

Many people are now comfortable expressing open, blatant anti-white racism. This is just as ugly and wrong as any other racism. There are few things that are more damaging to a country than creating racial division. Leftist fools are creating a time-bomb that is not likely to be defused.

Martin Luther King had a dream.  It was a beautiful dream.  Leftist leaders chose a nightmare instead.
