Iowa Was Bad, Bad News for Ron DeSantis

Guest Post by Kurt Schlichter

Well, Monday night kind of sucked. It super sucked. That’s the thing about politics – sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. While my candidate, Ron DeSantis, did come in second and beat 2004’s favorite daughter, Nikki Haley, which was nice, he came in a pretty distant second. I’d like to see a path for him to win the nomination. That would make me happy. He’s a very talented guy who doesn’t have a lot of the problems that Donald Trump has, such as the fact that about 53% of the voters irrationally hate former prezzy.

But my party seems to be going in another direction. I don’t see a path for Ron DeSantis to win. New Hampshire’s primary voter roll is full of Democrats and suburban wine women. South Carolina loves Trump. What’s the state after that where he’s going to not just come back, but come back like a tsunami? I just don’t see it, and it doesn’t make me happy to say it. But I have to say what I think. And I think Iowa has made clear that the base is intent on riding Donald J. Trump all the way to the finish line.

So be it.

Should DeSantis get out now? Vivek Ramaswamy did and lavishly endorsed the winner who was dissing him hard last week. His voters are all going to go over to Donald Trump because when Mini Me quits, his supporters go to Dr. Evil, not to Austin Powers. The governor and his people may see a path that I don’t see, but if they don’t see a viable one he should cut his losses. I know that if he’s in front of me on a ballot and has not dropped out, I’m voting for him. I’m first in line for DeSantis 2028. But real talk – Donald Trump is the prohibitive favorite right now. I would love to see the upset of the century. I don’t think I will. I think this is all going to be a done deal after Super Tuesday. I could be wrong. I’ve been wrong before. But the facts are looking like it’s going to be DJT 2.0 vs. Crusty 2.0 again. DeSantis is a smart guy. If he can’t win, the smart play is to punch out and endorse Trump (and bank his remaining cash for next time).

There are people who think Ron DeSantis should not have run in 2024. That’s ridiculous. This was his time. If he didn’t run, he’d be labeled a coward or worse, Chris Christie – a guy who didn’t take his shot when his shot was there to be taken. In retrospect, it seems like Ron DeSantis was destined not to win it this time because the Republican voter base is just not ready to move on from Donald Trump. That’s their right. They are adults, well, most of them. I think they’re wrong, but they think they’re right, and they’re doing what they want. That’s the way it should be.

For all those who are saying that Ron DeSantis ran a terrible campaign, that’s not so. What was the One Neat Trick RDS could have pulled off that would have made people leave Trump? Say meaner things about him? Wonk it up 72%? Smile more? His campaign, like every other campaign ever, made some mistakes. None changed the essential fact – the voters are still for Trump. Ron DeSantis could not have run a different campaign than the one he did, stressing competency and electability, and he ran the one he did technically and tactically proficiently even if, in the end, it hasn’t worked out. DeSantis is in the same lane as Donald Trump for America First policy. If either one of them wins, you are generally going to get the same kind of policies, though DeSantis would be slightly more conservative and probably execute them more smoothly and without a lot of distractions like tweeting that someone is a “horseface.”

When you’re in the same lane, you have to distinguish yourself somehow, and the only real way for DeSantis to do it is electability. He made the case, and people shrugged. The voters chose to stick it to the man over electability. In retrospect, it’s pretty clear that Trump had this nailed down the moment he got indicted by that ridiculous clown – wait, I have to be more specific. That clown in New York. Wait, I have to be even more specific – Alvin Bragg, though the other civil and criminal lawfare against him has only reinforced his support. The voters rally to Trump because they felt, rightly or wrongly, that failing to support Trump is somehow validating this disgusting and disgraceful lawfare, a constitutional abomination that could very well wreck our country. That’s not an insane rationale. It’s more emotional than I like, but you know how many votes I get? I get one. Everybody else gets their one vote, too. And now that the votes have finally started being counted, it seems I’m outvoted.

As for Nikki Haley, she should not drop out because I like watching her lose. She’s going to be Trump’s VP pick (for reason I set out here), so it’s not like she’s going away. She’s no hope beyond being the GOP’s less interesting Selina Meyer. Now it’s a one-on-one fight, the 2024 candidate vs. the 2004 candidate, and may the best man win. Man, because the best isn’t Grrrl Pwwwr Nikki.

I expect this is all going to wrap up in the next six to eight weeks. That’s when the unity starts, not now. Now we play this out. You don’t have unity primaries. That defeats the purpose of primaries. The purpose of primaries is to put various candidates out there and ask the voters which one they want. Their decision in Iowa was pretty clear, though I don’t know if an effective incumbent getting only 51% of the vote is anything to cheer about.

Regardless, I’m going to vote for whoever the nominee is. Now, there are lots of people mad out there because Donald Trump and his supporters were mean to them, and there are lots of people mad because Ron DeSantis and his supporters were mean to them. A lot of people were mean to me. I don’t care. I am completely indifferent to what @FatMagaDeadbeatDad69 thinks or says about me. It is utterly irrelevant to the single objective that I have, which is putting a Republican back in the White House in 2024.

Nothing else matters. I just want the Republican to win in November and if some silly and annoying people are happy, I don’t care. My advice is to stop caring about such things. Stop caring that people were mean to you during a primary. Stop caring about imperfections. Stop caring that the candidate is not a dude you would choose to be friends with in the real world. Stop caring that the media shafted you. Care about one thing. Care about the United States of America because Joe Biden and his coterie of communist cadre are going to wreck it. He’s going to ruin our country. This is serious stuff. And if you’re in some sort of snit because the other candidate and the people who liked him were mean to you, here’s my advice. Get over it. Do your duty. Elect the Republican, whoever it is.

Though I think it’s pretty clear who it’s going to be. *Sigh*

Ask Your Tailor if…

——————-

Yuri_vaultin Published 02/26/2009

“The doctor said, “Joe, the good news is I can cure your headaches. The bad news is that it will require castration. You have a very rare condition, which causes your testicles to press on your spine, and the pressure creates one hell of a headache. The only way to relieve the pressure is to remove the testicles.”

Joe was shocked and depressed. He wondered if he had anything to live for. He couldn’t concentrate long enough to answer, but decided he had no choice but to go under the knife.

When he left the hospital he was without a headache for the first time in 20 years, but he felt like he was missing an important part of himself. As he walked down the street, he realized that he felt like a different person. He could make a new beginning and live a new life. He saw a men’s clothing store & thought, “That’s what I need – a new suit.”

He entered the shop and told the salesman, “I’d like a new suit.” The elderly tailor eyed him briefly and said, “Let’s see … size 44 long.” Joe laughed, “That’s right, how did you know?” “Been in the business 60 years!” Joe tried on the suit. It fit perfectly.

As Joe admired himself in the mirror, the salesman asked, “How about a new shirt?” Joe thought for a moment and then said, “Sure.” The salesman eyed Joe and said, “Let’s see, 34 sleeve & 16-1/2 neck.” Again, Joe was surprised, “That’s right, how did you know?” “Been in the business 60 years!”

Joe tried on the shirt, and it fit perfectly. As Joe adjusted the collar in the mirror, the salesman asked, “How about new shoes?” Joe was on a roll and said, “Sure.” The salesman eyed Joe’s feet and said, “Let’s see … 9-1/2 E.” Joe was astonished, “That’s right, how did you know?” “Been in the business 60 years!”

Joe tried on the shoes and they fit perfectly. Joe walked comfortably around the shop and the salesman asked, “How about some new underwear?” Joe thought for a second and said, “Sure.” The salesman stepped back, eyed Joe’s waist and said, “Let’s see… size 36.”

Joe laughed. “Ah ha! I got you! I’ve worn size 34 since I was 18 years old.” The salesman shook his head, “You can’t wear a size 34. A size 34 underwear would press your testicles up against the base of your spine and give you one hell of a headache.”

Exactly, Haley as VP would be like Brutus as VP for Julius Cesar, if he can’t see the knife she’s holding behind her back with his name on it. The neocons would love that one, Nimrata just a bullet away from the big chair.

If Trump gets suckered into that, it proves he has no discernment whatsoever, just like with Syria, just like with Warp Speed.

He’ll probably be stupid enough to pick that Indian slut as VP. He already started with his idiotic praising of his opponents and enemies after winning Iowa, just like he did with Hillary after 2016 (“the Clintons have been through enough”) and Pelosi after the 2018 midterm cheating (“she’s tough and smart” or some such BS).

Why say anything? Just ignore them and say nothing.

No. Desantis was withholding his personality at the advice of his political election team. It was at that moment his poll numbers started dropping. When he was out front during Covid, calling BS on “Muh Science” everyone fucking loved him. He peaked too soon and they throttled him back. It was fatal. Momentum lost is improbable to maintain and impossible to regain.

In that respect he’s no better than Trump , who also believes in surrounding himself with fucking losers.

What I don’t get is why we’re still talking about it. The show is over. The corpse of Elvis on the toilet has been removed from the building.

Pretty square Kurt. Mature point of view mostly lacking snark over orange man bad’s thumping up on shorty and the Indians.

Of course it isn’t OMB thumping up on anyone, it’s the communists amorally exerting their power to retain that power through their corruption of American law and tradition which we the people abhor and oppose directly with our vote doing the thumping.

Thanks, communist scum, for being so incredibly un self aware and arrogant. May you all, and all your cohort from least to worst, freeze in winter, broil in summer and rot in hell for all eternity.

DeSantis is an example of why sometimes turning down that promotion and corner office is actually the right move. In Globohomo politics and business, all that rises must converge.

Promoting that pesky shop steward to management may cost you another company car and dubious expense reports, but it will keep the status quo for the rest, which is what counts.

The best way is usually to have some management wives invite his wife down to Bushwood for some crab cakes and bubbly.

” 53% of the voters irrationally hate former prezzy.”

If he means all democrat voters and a number of republican voters, that might be somewhat true. It’s called “TDS”. I doubt that they amount to anywhere near 53% of voters, though. What Kurt doesn’t know, and could never grasp is that a large number of eligible voters dislike Trump’s duplicity while he was president and, very rationally distrust him. I’ve distrusted him from the very first and that distrust has grown since he was elected. Of course, I don’t waste time voting just as I don’t waste energy by hating anyone. Kurt doesn’t believe that people like me exist in any numbers to speak of. He assumes that most people are as retarded as he is.

Rhonda Santis is trying to get his organization together for his real run in ’28. His best bet is to bail out now or shortly after he loses NH. Nimrata will stay in as long as the RINO’s and democrats continue to pump money into her campaign. Her job is to drain Trump’s resources through the primary season.

Reasonable analysis. What makes the decision tough for DeSantis is the possibility that Trump, for whatever reason, doesn’t make it to the general election. Then it’s open field for DeSantis to fight it out with Nimarata. That’s the only possibility that makes any sense. I think it likely Trump is the candidate, but it’s not a lock.

She’s going to be Trump’s VP pick

Disagree, the VP will be Ivanka Kushner. Takes care of the “for women” theme plus assures the State of Israel and related zionists, Christian or otherwise, complete the disintegration of the “idea” of “the land of the free”. Ivanka’s selection as VP unless there is some “rule” in COTUS prohibiting nepotism in a VP.

When I see flags like below in peeps yards, peeps I have no close relationship too but “thought” they were probably Americans it only fortifies my thoughts of keeping the powder dry not only for the radical left but the radical right as well. Plus, unfortunately , trust no one.

Trump, like Biden, needs a VP pick who’s a life insurance policy. Just like everyone hopes Biden hangs in there so we don’t end up with a President Harris, so does Trump need his “Harris”. In this case, Trump’s insurance policy should be someone the left and the powerful hate even more than Trump. Politicians like Ramaswamy or Desantis fit that description, and there are others. If Haley is Trump’s VP, there will be a line of globalists willingly paying up to have him “taken care of” so a VP like Haley could replace him.

I didn’t realize people considered Pence an insurance policy. I always heard him referred to as boring and inconsequential. “He’s a very talented guy who doesn’t have a lot of the problems that Donald Trump has”

Geez Kurt, the guy spent million$ of dollars to have Iowa get to know him. And every dollar spent and every Iowan introduced decreased his popularity! The only person on the campaign that was more artificial and off-putting was his wife.

At first I had thought Ron would make a good run at being Trump’s VP. You know, slip in saying I will get the stuff done. Trump sets the policy but I work the levers. I couldn’t believe he would blow such a chance when Sundance at conservativetreehouse said he was running for the billionaires at Sea Island.

I looked back at the election that brought him to the governor’s office and he was loosing until Trump gave him the endorsement. Loosing to a gay state senator who had gay orgy drug overdose parties in his condo on a regular basis! Well I guess you can figure out now how all that money he spent just drove people away.

So on to Namrata, ops I mean Nikki. She will suffer a fate like Kamal at the Dem debates in ’20. Just a few well asked questions and poof – never to be taken seriously again.
