Alex Garland is going to make a shit ton of money on this movie. I find it interesting that he does not provide a background as to why or how the civil war started, which I think is a brilliant move because all different sides and views of the people who watch this can pretend that THEIR reason is the righteous cause of it, therefore, catering to a wider audience, but Texas and Cal. joining forces? I don’t know about that.
Also, I read somewhere that he has had this idea for many years and pitched it to the major studios and was told to go pound sand, so he went with an indie production Co. (A24).
I’m the kind of American that waits for films to stream so I don’t have to go to theaters and pay $15 to watch a half hour of commercials before the movie starts and listen to people talk on their phones and chew popcorn with their mouth open.

Having experienced systemically antithetical American institutions throughout the decades, from educational, religious, military, workplace, medical, the mainstream media, and as relates to entertainment and sports, and it becoming abundantly clear that the said institutions are why the people are losing their country and yet they wish to persist in this neo-feudalism which is completely at odds with a so-called, yet often touted, professed, and proclaimed Constitutional Republic and other blaring discrepancies. Hence, I consider it to be a transient nation (not really a reference to migrants). Let’s call it what it is. However, I thereby gladly look forward to the North American Union. Perhaps then we can earn some tangible money in a more (commerce) merged environment in accordance with our labor input. America is on its way out.
This is not provocation of civil war, only provocation of frustration. It has already been conclusively established that no action will be taken by any one or any group. Period. The populace is left confused and unable to act, frustrated. Meanwhile the hoards stream across the border….
I would like to see Bracken‘s „Castigo Cay“ made into a movie. A much more plausible scenario: no implosion, but a gradual descent into a 3rd world hell hole ruled by a corrupt elite.
