“End The War On Black People” – BlackLivesMatter Demands Reparations, Investments, Political Power

Today “The Movement for Black Lives,” a coalition “more than 50 organizations representing thousands of Black people from across the country” posted a 22 page list of “demands” in what they called “A Vision for Black Lives: Policy Demands for Black Power, Freedom and Justice.”

The demands are fairly extensive and call for, among many other things, the following for Black people: free and open access to all public universities, retroactive forgiveness of all student loan debt, passage of H.R. 40 to study a “Reparation Proposal for African Americans,” removal of police from schools, retroactive decriminalization and release of all people held on drug and prostitution-related offenses and a restructuring of local, state and federal tax codes to achieve a “radical and sustainable redistribution of wealth.”

The policy demands were summarized as follows:

BLM FURY! Calling For Student Body VP Removal For THIS Simple Comment, You WON’T Believe What She Said

Via US Herald

America has always been opposed to totalitarianism – a world where the government regulates every aspect of the individual’s life, including speech.

In fact, our founders felt so strongly about free speech that it was guaranteed it in the first amendment in the Bill of Rights, and generations of soldiers fought and died for it rather than have us go the way of Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia.

So, while it would seem logical that our institutions of higher learning would encourage students to speak their minds, in these politically correct times, those who dare to do so frequently pay the price for exercising that sacred American right.

Rohini Sethi, University of Houston student government vice-president learned that lesson after having the temerity to think for herself, as she was sanctioned by the student government and forced to issue a humiliating apology.

Her crime?

A post on Facebook in the hours after the assassination of five police officers in Dallas that read: “Forget #BlackLivesMatter; more like #AllLivesMatter.”

‘Sell everything,’ DoubleLine’s Gundlach says

Via Reuters

Jeffrey Gundlach, the chief executive of DoubleLine Capital, said on Friday that many asset classes look frothy and his firm continues to hold gold, a traditional safe-haven, along with gold miner stocks.

Noting the recent run-up in the benchmark Standard & Poor’s 500 index while economic growth remains weak and corporate earnings are stagnant, Gundlach said stock investors have entered a “world of uber complacency.”

The S&P 500 on Friday touched an all-time high of 2,177.09, while the government reported that U.S. gross domestic product in the second quarter grew at a meager 1.2 percent rate.

“The artist Christopher Wool has a word painting, ‘Sell the house, sell the car, sell the kids.’ That’s exactly how I feel – sell everything. Nothing here looks good,” Gundlach said in a telephone interview. “The stock markets should be down massively but investors seem to have been hypnotized that nothing can go wrong.”

The Burrito Index: Consumer Prices Have Soared 160% Since 2001

Submitted by Charles Hugh-Smith via PeakProsperity.com,

In our household, we measure inflation with the “Burrito Index”: How much has the cost of a regular burrito at our favorite taco truck gone up?

Since we keep detailed records of expenses (a necessity if you’re a self-employed free-lance writer), I can track the real-world inflation of the Burrito Index with great accuracy: the cost of a regular burrito from our local taco truck has gone up from $2.50 in 2001 to $5 in 2010 to $6.50 in 2016.

That’s a $160% increase since 2001; 15 years in which the official inflation rate reports that what $1 bought in 2001 can supposedly be bought with $1.35 today.

If the Burrito Index had tracked official inflation, the burrito at our truck should cost $3.38—up only 35% from 2001. Compare that to today’s actual cost of $6.50—almost double what it “should cost” according to official inflation calculations.

Since 2001, the real-world burrito index is 4.5 times greater than the official rate of inflation—not a trivial difference.

Between 2010 and now, the Burrito Index has logged a 30% increase, more than triple the officially registered 10% drop in purchasing power over the same time.

Those interested can check the official inflation rate (going back to 1913) with the BLS Inflation calculator by clicking here.

A priest was reportedly stabbed in his own home when he refused to give money to a man claiming to be an asylum seeker who had asked to use his shower.

Father Jos Vanderlee, a 65-year-old priest in the north east Belgian town of Lanaken, was rushed to hospital with hand and tendon injuries.  He is expected to make a full recovery.

According to local newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, a man who said he was an asylum seeker knocked on the vicar’s door  on Sunday and asked if he could use the shower.

Let the Games Begin!

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

Hot air balloons may be crashing in Texas, but in Philadelphia last week sainted Hillary, draped in spotless white privilege robes, floated through the glassiest ceiling of all on mighty gusts of saccharine gas. The good wife… the good mother… tireless fighter for the rainbow outcasts and gender martyrs of this patriarch-plagued republic, she pledged both continuity and change to the credulous faithful as history yanked her above the gurgling cesspits of allegation, suspicion, and distrust that lo, these many months, had come to be her natural haunt.

The cameras cut to poor brooding Bernie seated just above the delirious groundlings, frowny-faced, arms crossed, brow beetled beneath his white Corinthian curls, perhaps suffering the effects of cheese-steak poisoning. He’d endorsed Saint Hillary with all the passion of a Seventh Avenue soft goods jobber hawking last-year’s resort-wear, and the next day he would up-and-quit the Democratic Party — as if that was not sending a message to the true believers.

Whistleblower’s Stunning Claim: “NSA Has All Of Hillary’s Deleted Emails, It May Be The Leak”

Tyler Durden's picture

Over a year before Edward Snowden shocked the world in the summer of 2013 with revelations that have since changed everything from domestic to foreign US policy but most of all, provided everyone  a glimpse into just what the NSA truly does on a daily basis, a former NSA staffer, and now famous whistleblower, William Binney, gave excruciating detail to Wired magazine about all that Snowden would substantiate the following summer.

We covered it in a 2012 post titled “We Are This Far From A Turnkey Totalitarian State” – Big Brother Goes Live September 2013.” Not surprisingly, Binney received little attention in 2012 – his suggestions at the time were seen as preposterous and ridiculously conspiratorial. Only after the fact, did it become obvious that he was right. More importantly, in the aftermath of the Snowden revelations, what Binney has to say has become gospel.

William Binney, NSA whistleblower

Which is why we are confident that at least a subset of the US population will express great interest in what Binney said earlier today, when the famous whistleblower said in a radio interview on Sunday that the NSA has “all” of Hillary Clinton’s deleted emails and the FBI could gain access to them if they so desired, William Binney, a former highly placed NSA official.

Americans Are Going to be Disappointed in Election Outcome

undefined

It is a sad commentary on the state of political life in the United States that our political conventions have become more like rock music festivals than competitions of ideas. There has been a great deal of bombast, of insults, of name-calling, and of chest-beating at both party conventions, but what is disturbingly absent is any mention of how we got to this crisis and how we can get out. From the current foreign policy mess to the looming economic collapse, all we hear is both party candidates saying they will fix it, no problem.

In her convention speech Hillary Clinton promised that she would “fight terrorism” and defeat ISIS by doing more of what we have been doing all along: bombing. In fact we have dropped more than 50,000 bombs on ISIS in Iraq and Syria over the past two years and all she can say is that she will drop more. How many more bombs will defeat ISIS? How many more years will she keep us in our longest war, Afghanistan? She doesn’t say.

Meanwhile on the Other Coast…

SignA

It’s funny how different our lives are yet at the same time how they occasionally seem to intersect. We go regularly to the West coast of Vancouver Island and when I saw this warning I began to think of just how close our lives are to one another in some aspects. I thought of Jim on his rock with his sign and I began to think of the things that bind people like all of us together. Not just cynicism but an appreciation of the most basic and elemental of things like family, friendship, love and especially truth…

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Then he said to the crowd,
“Take care to guard against all greed,
for though one may be rich,
one’s life does not consist of their possessions.”

Then he told the gathering a parable.
“There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest.
He asked himself, ‘What shall I do,
for I do not have space to store my harvest?’
And he said, ‘This is what I shall do:
I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones.
There I shall store all my grain and other goods
and I shall say to myself, “Now as for you,
you have so many good things stored up for many years,
so have your ease, eat, drink, be merry!’

But God said to him,
‘You fool, this very night your life will be demanded of you;
and the things which you have hoarded, to whom will they belong?’
Thus will it be for all who store up treasures for themselves,
but are not rich in the things that matter to God.”

Luke 12:15-21

Will Trump Declare Martial Law In His Presidency? And Would It Be A Bad Thing?

Guest Post by Cory Thomas

President Obama Brings Up Martial Law in an Interview with the Washington Post
Were you as shocked as I was to read the comment allegedly made by President Obama to the Washington Post that “Americans would be better off under martial law” if Trump were to be elected?

Wait, hold on.

Did he really just say that?

This is our commander-in-chief. He must be kidding, right?
Right??

Nevermind, He Was Only “Joking.”
The Washington Post, a vocal Obama supporter, quickly backtracked. They now claim that the off-hand remark made “in jest.”

Okay, fine. We’ve all cracked a few questionable jokes in our day. We will give you that one, Mr. President.

California to proclaim August “Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month”

Hat tip Gayle

Via Jihad Watch

This is being done at the behest of Hamas-linked CAIR. Is Assemblymember Bill Quirk aware that Hamas-linked CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case — so named by the Justice Department? CAIR officials have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR’s cofounder and longtime Board chairman (Omar Ahmad), as well as its chief spokesman (Ibrahim Hooper), have made Islamic supremacist statements. (Ahmad denies this, but the original reporter stands by her story.) A California chapter distributed a poster telling Muslims not to talk to the FBI, and a Florida chapter distributed pamphlets with the same message. CAIR has opposed virtually every anti-terror measure that has been proposed or implemented and has been declared a terror organization by the United Arab Emirates.

Does Quirk know or care about any of that?

Meanwhile, when do the families of the victims of jihad get their moment in the sun? When is Victims of Jihad Appreciation and Awareness Month?

And will there be special celebrations of Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month in San Bernardino?
