Efforts to condemn actor Russell Brand and silence him based on unproven rape allegations – made at a time when he’s challenging establishment orthodoxies on such issues as the Ukraine conflict and Covid-19 vaccines – mark a “witch-burning phase” in Western cancel culture, US tech billionaire Elon Musk has warned.

Glenn Greenwald Weighs in on Russell Brand and the ‘War on Rumble’

Guest Post by Brenda Baletti, Ph.D.

On a recent episode of his “System Update” podcast, journalist Glenn Greenwald argued the politicized attack on Russell Brand is being used to attack the Rumble platform and free speech.

“So crucial is the online censorship regime to Western power centers that one thing is certain — any individual or company that even thinks about defying it will be severely attacked and punished,” journalist Glenn Greenwald said on an episode of his “System Update” podcast.

Big Tech platforms and the U.K. government have launched a war against Rumble, using recent allegations against comedian and political commentator Russell Brand as a pretense.

Rumble is an online platform that reaches large audiences and has a demonstrated commitment to defending free speech against the “censorship-industrial complex,” Greenwald said.

Four anonymous women accused Brand of rape, sexual assault and other types of emotionally controlling behavior that allegedly occurred more than a decade ago. The allegations were made as part of a joint investigation from The Times of London, The Sunday Times and Channel 4 Dispatches.

RUSSELL BRAND WELCOMED AT RUMBLE

Big Tech in collusion with Big Government and Big Media can keep trying to silence those in the alt-truth telling media, but it isn’t going to work. We get knocked down, but get back up to fight again. Their attempt to silence and demonetize Russell Brand will make him more popular than ever. There will never be any formal criminal charges made against Brand, because the crimes didn’t happen. These bullshit accusations are the same false narrative used against Brett Kavanaugh, Julian Assange, Joe Rogan, Tucker Carlson, and dozens of others who don’t bow down to the Deep State. Fuck em.

Guest Post by Kit Knightly

Undermining the presumption of innocence and feeding cancel culture are run of the mill these days, but the timing is very strange.

This Russell Brand story gets stranger and stranger by the day. Last night it was revealed the a senior MP had written letters to multiple social media companies requesting information on Russell Brand’s income and covertly pressuring them into either demonetizing or removing his accounts.

The news broke when video-hosting platform Rumble posted a screenshot of their letter, along with their official response, on Twitter.

In the letter, Dame Caroline Dinenage MP – chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee – requests to know “whether Mr Brand is able monetize his content”, “whether Rumble intends to join YouTube [in suspending monetization]” and what steps they are taking to “ensure that creators are not able to use the platform to undermine the welfare of victims”.
