Top US senator tells Ukraine to draft younger soldiers

Lindsey Graham has said he cannot believe Kiev is allowing its youth to remain in the rear

US Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) has urged the Ukrainian parliament to pass a highly controversial mobilization bill that would lower the minimum conscription age from 27 to 25 to compensate for battlefield losses. At the same time, he advocated a scheme in which the US would provide Ukraine with loans instead of non-repayable aid.

Kiev announced general mobilization in February 2022 shortly after the start of the conflict with Russia, with men between 27 and 60 eligible to be called up, although those over the age of 18 could also volunteer. In December, Ukrainian officials proposed a bill expanding the draft bracket, with reported plans to send as many as 500,000 fresh soldiers to the front line.

Whether it is a distinguished general who came to his senses in 1935, after doing the bidding of the monied interests by initiating conflict throughout the world to fill their coffers with blood money, or a rock & roll star fifty years later writing a hit song about the exact same theme, the song remains the same. Our active military is only 1.4 million compared to Russia and China, which are at 3.2 million. Even India has 1.5 million. The most notorious Washington Neocon, Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC), and his equal Neocon on the Democratic side, Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), have introduced a Resolution in the Senate in hopes of justifying World War III stating that if Russia, or one of its Proxy Belarus just as Ukraine is our Proxy, detonates a Tactical nuclear bomb inside Ukraine, or if something happens to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant causing radiation leakage, then they want to use nuclear weapons and are saying they will completely annihilate Russia. They are calling that “an attack upon NATO” claiming that radiation would spread to Europe,  triggering a full-blown nuclear war.

This disgusting spectacle comes six days after Hillary Clinton—formerly the US Secretary of State (!)—got many laughs with a derisive public riff about “short guy” Vladimir Putin, whom she also called “narcissistic,” “messianic” and “authoritarian” (an apt description of the woman who, in a TV interview, exulted in the violent death of Muammar Qaddafi—“We came, we saw, he died!”—and proposed a drone strike against her critic Julian Assange).

Lindsay Graham Meets With Zelensky – Says Ukraine War ‘Best Money We’ve Ever Spent’

Lindsay Graham, a remnant of the Bush era Neocon fold, has been a busy bee in the past year.  He has visited Ukraine at least three times since the war with Russia began, called for the assassination of Vladimir Putin, called for the US to directly attack Russian planes, and he’s even demanded that the US put troops on the ground in Taiwan to fight the Chinese.  It just goes to show that there are certainly a number of politicians that identify as GOP Republicans that do not represent the will of most conservatives and moderates.

Graham’s latest visit with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has been broadly publicized.  Andriy Yermak, the head of the president’s office, released footage of the meeting, intercut with dramatic piano music for effect:
