RICHARD RUSSELL PREDICTS HYPERINFLATION WITH STOCKS, GOLD & SILVER SKYROCKETING

I don’t know whether Richard Russell is a contrarian indicator or a prophet. I used to pay for his daily newsletter. I enjoyed reading his ramblings. In late 2007 he advised his readers to go all in on stocks. I thought he was nuts and cancelled my subscription. We know what happened next. In my opinion, his credibility was shot. Now he is advising people to go into stocks to benefit from the coming hyperinflation. I think I’ll ignore his advice once again.

With continued chaos and uncertainty in global markets, today KWN is publishing an incredibly powerful piece that was written by a 60-year market veteran. The Godfather of newsletter writers, Richard Russell, is now warning that the world is going to witness a terrifying hyperinflation. He also discussed how this hyperinflation will impact major global markets, including stocks, gold, silver and other hard assets.

“I believe all primary trends run to conclusion. All primary trends end in exhaustion and extremes in blue chip prices. The primary bear market that started in 2008 was never allowed to run its full course to completion. At the 2009 low, the market was severely oversold and in need of a “rest.” At that same time a terrified Federal Reserve stepped in with massive infusions of liquidity, thereby giving impetus to the upward correction that had started in the stock market. I believe the Fed’s machinations will set off hyperinflation somewhere during the next two to four years. I believe hyperinflation will be followed by a continuation of the primary bear market.”

Read the article title and read no further. When the dust settles America will be begging for hyperinflation! Russell is correct on the skyrocketing of gold and silver, however it will have nothing to do whatsoever with inflation/deflation.

Some years ago I quit trying to be my own mutual fund manager, stock picker, precious metals investor, and investment guru. I became a Scott Burns and Bill Bernstein convert. Since then it’s been up, up, up for my portfolio.

Bernstein says that stocks do well in inflationary times. He backs up that assertion with research. Like a fool, or I think not, I believe in Bill.

If you wonder where to put your savings for the future, consider reading Bill Bernstein’s “The Investor’s Manifesto.” Who knows, he may be right, he may be wrong. But, at least, Bernstein has some well supported ides that may be worth considering.

Everyone’s been howling about The End of Days for months, if not years… I’m getting burned out on doom…

I’m just gonna keep plugging away, socking away my preps… if it happens, fine. If not, even better.

@Billy
I feel the same way, I have made prepping a way of life. The system is failing, it’s just a matter of time, and yes it could be a number of years before it breaks but I look for it before Obama is out of office. Why do I say that? Glad you asked. Because I believe a major war is the next Big event on the horizon. Russia and China view Obama as a pathetically weak imbecile, neither feared nor respected on the world stage. Obama views Obama as the all knowing center of the universe. That combination is a combustible mix that is more than likely to set off an explosion of Biblical proportion. Obama’s signature piece of legislation “Obamacare” is an absolute failure. Obama’s an egotistical narcissist in search of a legacy, that makes him very dangerous. I said all that to say this, I look for Nukes to fly before dollars fall.
Fourth Turnings are bloody, yes the economies fail but it’s the wars and blood shed that imprint history. Prepare accordingly.

I agree Billy, a economic collapse is not something I look forward to at all. On Lew Rockwell this morning there’s a link on how to defend your property from looters. I know you were in the military and this is second nature to you, but for fucks sake, who wants that? The doom and gloom is wearing me out.
I believe it is coming, in one form or another I know it’s unavoidable and the longer it takes to get here, the worse it will be.
So to me prepping is what people did anyway, before refrigeration, before grocery stores, before prepackaged convenience foods full of who knows what.
I’m learning things, how to forage and identify plants for food or medicine, and when is the best time to eat them or dry them for later use. To find common weeds and make tea, to make a snare, to use a slingshot, hunt with a simple bow, fish without a fishing pole. Next up is wine, brewing beer and maybe making whiskey, I can live without beer or wine, but I gotta have whiskey.

I value the input from others that I consider intelligent, which is about 2/3rds of the folks here on TBP. Just to be clear, that includes you, too.

Out of curiosity, have you ever read One Second After?

See the big problem is that when you go to war, at least for conquest or resources, is that you want your enemy gone, but the infrastructure intact. Up until now, we’ve had the neutron bomb, but that has a very localized effect.

If a hostile nation with nuclear capabilities really wanted to fuck us with a minimum of effort and leave our infrastructure intact for later use – by THEM – then they’d hit us with a bunch of EMP’s. It wouldn’t have to be anything exotic – some fairly big Cold War era warheads on rockets big enough to break atmosphere and then they could biff them wherever they wished. Our grid is shaky enough as it is and if we were hit with several EMP’s at once, we’d be blown clear back to the High Middle Ages.

Then, all the bad guys would have to do is sit back and wait. We’d tear ourselves to pieces fighting over scraps, dying off from whatever bugs are being spread throughout the population and starving to death… in a year, there’d be a handful of us left and we’d be too weak to resist anyone who rolled in here with any strength… easy peasy japanesey, and the bad guys don’t have to deal with irradiated zones.

Shit, it doesn’t have to even be a nuke-capable hostile nation… there’s plenty enough nations out there who hate our guts for one reason or another, and to them, one reason is as good as the next. The tech isn’t exactly cutting edge, either. It’s been around since the 1940’s and if you don’t mind being flagged by the NSA, you can look up how to build one on the Internet…

I’m thinking that there’s gonna be an implosion of the dollar, followed by hyperinflation, followed by the chaos that results from such things and then, when nobody’s looking, we’re gonna get hit with multiple EMP’s. For an opponent with limited resources, that would make the most sense and get the most effect out of their efforts…

It would take years for us to get back to where we are right now, and that’s just talking about the infrastructure… if a situation like that DID happen, you’d have hundreds, if not thousands, of little fiefdoms spring up all over the US, with local strongmen in charge of each one, jealously guarding what they have and making war on their neighbors for what they don’t… and each one would have to be dealt with…

What is clear is that however it does shake out, it’s gonna be very, very ugly and we will never be the same afterwards…

An easy way to figure out what you need for preps is to think what a middle class person had available to him/her back in the 1400’s-1500’s, and then go from there. Some low-tech stuff is still viable, so that made the list too..

On the list of not-so-obvious stuff, for me, was the following… note that I have not procured everything on the list… it is a work in progress…

– beeswax candles (hundreds of them), and the means to make more
– Kerosene hurricane lanterns (the good kind)
– non-electric hand tools of good quality (axes, hammers, hand saws, shovels, pickaxes, mattox, etc)
– hardware (50lb bags of nails, screws, fence staples, wire, etc)
– 55 gallon drum of kerosene (about $300)
– as much diesel as you can stash, plus treatment
– an ethanol still
– Ivory soap – LOTS of it.
– dimensional lumber, if you can afford it
– bags of lime
– bags of elemental sulpher
– standard schoolhouse chalk
– pig lead
– pig iron

You get the idea… if you have a place to put all this stuff, it will keep you going for a very long time. Take the hardware – if you have no nails and have no idea how to make a trennel or even what one is, then the only way to get nails (if there is no supply) is to have a blacksmith make them for you… and how many local blacksmiths are still in business?

Interesting sidenote – you know why nail sizes are referred to as “d”, as in “10d nails”?

Because of the denarius – the old “dollar” of the Roman Empire. A denarius would buy 10 nails of a certain size, or 20 of a smaller size, etc… so nail sizes became to be referred to as “d” and eventually became standardized.

Another interesting sidenote – an apprentice to a blacksmith, when he wasn’t doing anything more important, was busy making nails… hundreds of them. That was the bread and butter of the blacksmith – nails.

Yet another interesting sidenote – square cut nails have 400% more holding power than a standard wire cut nail, no matter the configuration.

(Wood, being a living thing, will change dimensions over time. If it’s green and wet when it’s used, it will shrink quite a bit. If you hammer a nail into green, wet wood (which is how 99.98% of all dimensional wood is sold today- oh, they say it’s fucking ‘kiln dried’ but that’s a load of hooey… go to any Big Box store and get into a pile of 2×4’s… you can FEEL the moisture. When that straight board dries out, it’s gonna look like a banana and be a lot smaller.)… anyways, the hole the nail made increases in size and the nail slips right out… which is why stairs creak like a pirate ship one year after a new house is built…)

Sorry.. I’ve rambled again…

I’m gonna go and start on that list of books in my library for you guys…

Laters…

sensetti – Non if the horses shown are draft horsed, the plow is a chisel plow which is lighter than the flip over moldboard plow with seat for rider which is much heavier than your plow. The Mennonites use three Belgium draft horses with a rider flip over moldboard. When they get to the end of the furrow they flip over to the other blade so they are turning the soil over in the same direction. Your chisel plow is not turning the sod under. Depending how soft your soil from organic matter the easier it is to plow. You can plow a garden with your set up but not five acres a day.

Now that you mention it, I actually do remember you mentioning something like that… nice work on the plow. +1

My son wants to apprentice with a local blacksmith (we actually have one nearby). He can’t legally get paid, but he’s not there to get paid anyways. Told him that if he shows promise, skill and dedication, I would build him his own shop, with a forge.

By the way, in the library, I’ve got a couple books of instruction on how to build an atmospheric forge. It’s good stuff, and there’s a couple on sand casting as well.. Will include those in the list…

What an idiot. Hyperinflation would devastate stocks, would devastate the economy, and would wipe out the consumer. I don’t think we’ll see hyperinflation. More like a slow, grinding stagflation like Japan has had for 30 years. Eventually it will blow up also, but somehow Japan’s debt is insurmountable, and they still keep on going. It’s mind-boggling how long the charade can go on. I though it would collapse after our debt reached $13 trillion. It’s $17.3 trillion now, and people care less about it than they did at $13 trillion. And it’ll be north of $20 trillion when Obama gets out of office (if he isn’t impeached first, which I hope to God he is). After Hillary, it’ll be $28 trillion. Who cares? Nobody.

My horses are Missouri foxtrotters they are gaited perfect for packing into the high country. Will cover about 80 miles a day (when in shape). Theses four horses will carry me and my wife back into a remote location should I need to leave my place. I doubt I ever will, I live in BFE now, but I like option.

Absolutely perfect, I totally agree with this analysis. Hyperinflation would not last very long at all and the free shit army would burn the cities to the ground.

This is the reason I believe the next big event will be a war, a major war, the financial situation of the entire world is precarious, riots are breaking out everywhere sooner or later some hot spot is going to invite the attention of two super powers and the situation is going to get out of hand.

Russia is amassing troops on the Ukrainian border at this moment, Syria is literally melting down, there are riots in Venezuela and Thailand. China and Japan could blow up at any moment. Sooner rather than later competing interests are going to clash and when it breaks it’s gonna break bad.

Look at the fourth turnings of the past I believe every one of them, if I remember correctly, are very bloody and usually end in war. Why would this fourth turning the different?
