I’m hoping on of those ICBM’s has Obama’s name on it.
The Russian armed forces are still quite dated and have not fully recovered from the end of the cold war. That is not to say they are not dangerous, it is that they are no direct threat to the US. They have 1 aircraft carrier we have 10, I could go on and on. We have spent a ridiculous amount of money modernizing our weapons delivery systems from drones to the latest warships. The problem as I see it Russia is much better at projecting power. The actually scare their neighbors. Do you think we scare Mexico. They just laugh at the stupid Americans who gladly give them free money, healthcare and educate their children for free. The Canadians have never built a substantial standing army, hence the reason they are not as broke as we are. Our armed forces are quite dangerous and quite well trained coming out of the two recent wars. The problem as I see it is a we have a President who projects us as a country of pussies.

After quite a few “very easy” wars, against unwilling conscripts (Libya), and poorly-organised “Rebel” forces (seems everywhere else) your American forces WILL have become overconfident and complacent.
Under Putin, Russia HAS modernised all fighting forces, and their equipment is pretty excellent. Just because “they” spend less, doesn’t mean that spending is less effective. Never forget that America spent millions developing the Fischer Space Pen – Russia decided pencils were better. Russia’s also home to the AK47 – cheap, effective, reliable, durable.
IT will be interesting to see where all the US Military spending has gone. Never forget the spending on “non-existent” Legions during the fall of the Roman Empire – all that money simply disappearing into the pockets of the well connected.
The similarities are striking. The opportunity for theft / misappropriation have never been greater.Wonder what became of the “Missing Pentagon Billions”, probably the real reason for the demolition of the World Trade Centre.

There is little likely hood of a direct American Russian confrontation, and if you think there isn’t a similar level of corruption in the weapons business in Russia as the US you do not have a very good understanding of mother Russia.
