QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Unquestionably, however, something else is at work, something that cuts deeper into the American psyche. We have a profound hatred of the weak and the poor, and a corresponding groveling terror before the rich and the successful, and we’re building a bureaucracy to match those feelings…We’re creating a dystopia, where the mania of the state isn’t secrecy or censorship but unfairness.”

I really disagree with that claim by Taibbi. Taibbi is confusing an oligarchy forged by the politicians and the rich with some kind groveling by the many. We also do not “hate” the poor. We just think government has worked hard to develop a dependent class and they shut down any chance of advancement they may harbor. No, we are more likely to hate the government than the poor and attack the oligarchy rather than grovel before it.
