Remembering AWD

It’s been about a month since AWD died.  As a remembrance, here’s a post I think he would have enjoyed.  It’s about one of his favorite subjects and ours.  Though the photo reveals less than AWD was accustomed to show, you TBP readers are pretty good at looking behind coverups and into things. So what’s not apparent you can easily imagine.  Otherwise, the post offers a couple a AWD staples, advice, though no where near as sharply as AWD often gave his, and a bit of wit.

CARING  FOR  THE  GARDEN  OF  DELIGHTS

Mary was young, Mary was fair, Mary was her mother’s despair.

When she started courting, her mother wisely said,

“Mary, there are things that you must know before you’re wed.

“You ought to know better, a big girl like you.

“When I was 20, I knew plenty, a thing or two.

“Oh didn’t I rather, ask your father.

“When your boy gets mooney-eyed and plays around for hours,

“You can lead him up the garden, but don’t let him pick the flowers.

“Remember what your mother said and keep him off your parsley bed.

“You ought to know better, a big girl like you.”

I was already remembering AWD when admin posted the “6000 Illinois Teachers” thread.

A little Daisy Fuentes here for AWD. She is hands down the most consistently hot woman I’ve ever seen. She’s even hot without makeup.

The reason I posted my wakeup story was in response to AWD’s short and to the point response to that request for What Woke You Up stories.

“The Burning Platform opened my eyes. Seriously. That’s not me just blowing smoke up Admin’s ass”

“Quinn let me use a Rome post of his for a book I wrote. He was very cool about it. Then I finally saw TBP, and it’s changed my life. It’s gotten me to prepare for what is coming. It enriches my life on a daily basis. I get to hang out with Stuck, and every other person on here, the coolest, smartest, most grounded, sensible, funny, deep, well, not enough superlatives. And from all over the country, but like a a hang-out, bar, party, barbeque, bachelor party, you know; lots of fun and insight. Greatest blog their is, free for all, controlled anarchy. It’s whatever we make it, and we make it good….”

Over the many months I’d lurked here, reading stories and remember rolling my eyes at photos of disgustingly obese women, but not being offended, since I’m prior military and have seen far worse images passed around for a crew’s entertainment during hours long surveillance missions. But something about AWD’s sincere little blurb about the “coolest, smartest, most grounded, sensible, funny, deep, …” made me want to be ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE HE was referring to. Unfortunately, his passing means that I will not be elevated into the ranks in his mind, but it is my fond hope that I continue to learn more about this “hang-out, bar, party, barbeque, bachelor party, …lots of fun and insight” where he was so admired.

And for those who remember my promise to look. I looked, found, listened and determined not to share.

RIP AWD I think you would have liked this.

The death of shame.

1. Shame once disciplined parents, who would be ashamed to send their barbarian child to school.
2. Shame once disciplined young women, who refused a man intercourse until he made a difficult-to-revoke commitment to her.
3. Shame once disciplined that same young woman, who didn’t want her son or daughter deemed a bastard and she a whore.
4. Shame once disciplined young men, who were seen as subhuman if they couldn’t support themselves and the families their actions produced.

Shame was a great thing.
In its place we have enablement.

Special Ed enables a kid with an IEP to get “special help” (at the expense of regular kids) and to ignore time limits on important tests.
“Behavior Plans” enable parents to delude themselves into thinking the school can instill self-control in their brat, when the parent refuses to do so.
“AFDC,” Section 8, WIC, LINK, etc., enable people who refuse the help themselves to harvest the wealth of those who are self-supporting.

A society without shame, and filled with enabling institutions, has only one destination.

It was shameful to use food stamps.

There was shame in having to drive to the unemployment office and stand in line for your unemployment check.

A west-central Illinois woman faces up to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to threatening to blow up the high school where she taught special education.

Michelle Lynn Smith, 36, of Jerseyville pleaded guilty this week to a felony count of conveying a false threat. She remains jailed, pending her sentencing on Dec. 15.

Authorities say Smith left a computer-generated note April 28 in a restroom at the Calhoun County High School in Hardin.

“This school is going down today. KABOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” the note said, according to federal court filings. “I’m tired of all the people here. Everyone is going down … So long and GOOD-BYE!!!!!!!!!”

Flash,

No surprise there.

Most teachers are actually just a subset of bureaucrat, so as the Head Bureaucrats for whom they work layer endless amounts of new, conflicting bureaucracy on their heads, all they want is to be told WHICH new rule is the one to be slavishly followed.

On the occasion that the teacher in question is NOT a born bureaucrat, the cognitive dissonance of all those Kafkaesque rules sometimes yields Crazy Bitch Syndrome.

Threatening to blow up the school (even in half-jest) is a symptom of CBS.

Indeed, Admin. In 3 weeks he went from walking on his feet with little help, right into the coffin.
It seems swallowing pills with a shovel as docs prescribe this days for the elders works … you trust them … you die.

“Eugend66, I’m sorry for your loss. ” ——– Admin

Same here, +100.

I hope when my time comes that I die like that … maybe even quicker than 3 weeks … like in my sleep, or an Oreo drone missile up my ass. I hope that doesn’t come across as insensitive. My parents have some very very sick friends … their time on earth is basically numbered ….. but they hang on for too long, often in agony and a horrible quality of life. Who needs that shit, really?

Heartfelt condolences ….
