On this day, June 6, 1944, more than 156,000 troops put their feet on a beach at Normandy after having waded, trudged and half-swam or parachuted onto French soil and nearly 4,500 died in the ensuing fight to take that beach head and get a toehold into Europe in order to save Europe and perhaps all of the world from an evil so vile that it would treat human beings as if they were nothing more than livestock, to be categorically sorted into a variety of camps and holding systems for experimentation or extermination, among other atrocities.We want to acknowledge the sacrifices of all those men who fought on that day and during the entirety of that War to End all Wars because of what they believed to be a just cause for freedom. Because, the majority of those men that died on that beach were there because they wanted to protect their families at home and, by extension, to enable me (and everyone else in this country) to be raised with the freedom and liberty I have enjoyed in this country during my childhood and throughout my life.
Even though many of our countrymen and the leadership of this nation has done so, we here at xxxx community promise to never forget their sacrifice.

bb, I don’t know if you are being disingenuous or are simply ignorant. The Japanese and Soviets fought a brief war over some islands in the river that separated Manchukuo from the USSR in 1939. The mostly infantry-based Japanese army had it’s ass kicked by soviet armor. They signed a peace treaty which both sides observed until the last months of the pacific war because the soviets didn’t want to get mired in a two front war and the Japanese were terrified of them.
The axis was never a true alliance but merely a marriage of convenience. If it were, the Germans would have declared war on the USSR in 1939 to support Japan. Japan returned the favor by doing nothing when Germany invaded the USSR, but had they invaded at the same time, tying up Molotov’s divisions in the far east so that they couldn’t rush to defend Moscow, the USSR might have been defeated.

You never quite know where you’re gonna find truth and in choosing the Doom Porn Path, I’ve learned far more truth that I ever wanted to know. In fact, I’ve learned that nearly all wars are wars of choice and the history books are written by the winners. One of the saddest and most anger inspiring things I’ve learned on my Doom Porn Odyssey is how just about everything I’ve been taught and told all my life has been complete bullshit.
I love WWII history and I have enormous empathy for the young men who fought it. I know they fought with the highest of ideals & real patriotism and that in the thick of it they fought for each other more than they fought for our freedom but after learning the truth I cannot think of WWII veterans without considering how they were led down the primrose path by greedy fucks in the banking and MIC industries to further their own lust for power and riches. Makes me want to puke! I feel the same things for the modern youth used as cannon fodder for no good or moral reason. The scumbags in charge don’t give a fuck about them and have the nerve to classify them as potential terrorists upon their return. I only hope to live long enough to see the tables turned on the greedy bastards in charge!

Ok ,one little brief battle between Soviet forces and the Japanese compared to years of US fighting in the Pacific. Dill doe ,bridges are cheap in Manhattan .If.you want I’ll sell you a couple.
IS ,I agree ,most of what I thought I knew about the motives of WW2 were wrong but it doesn’t change my opinion of the men who fought those battles. By the way you’ll still a shit head .Now as Stucky says.. fuck off.
