We would find out real fast how compromised our systems are if a hot-war broke out with Russia or China. Payment systems would crash, power plants would explode, satellites might just fall out of orbit or explode all together. We have relied on so much technology for our military systems. Meanwhile their hacking abilities are not being fully disclosed by our government. I agree with the suicide if it goes that route.

I have repeatedly tried to warn the silly dupes of the chickenhawk Neo-Cons that a war with Russia, China or both would be an unmitigated disaster. There is absolutely no way of knowing how it would turn out. We could suffer catastrophic defeat, it could go nuclear, or even if we enjoyed initial success, it would turn into a God awful mess the likes of which we can barely imagine. Not a good idea even if it would be a cake walk, which it most assuredly would not (although I second the notion that it might be a cake walk for them). Not only as said above, will we find out how compromised our systems are, we will find out what else they have we know nothing about. Such as the US ship in the black sea a couple years ago that had all its systems go DEAD due to some device/tech the Russians have.

IN my humble opinion, probably half to three quarters of Russian war fighting hardware simply won’t work or have deteriorated beyond repair. Remember the pictures of the dead (all but the reactors) submarines lined up at a Northern Russian port not many years ago. They are still there – reactors still fueled and slowing rotting until they’ll sink.
Russia is far more broken that we are financially – they can’t even pay their troops with any reliability.
But they have ICBMs. Again, someone pushes the button, about half will go “poop” and sit there, a few might cook off in the silos and Russia simply doesn’t have a submarine fleet of boomers and fast attack boats like we do.
But, war with Russia, with the arms that do work, is an extinction event in that if only half the nukes on both sides go off in the atmosphere, a year later after the winds and weather does its’ work, we’ll all be dead. Any that are still alive will be reduced to subsistence living or nomads that will be slowly poisoned as time passes.
We have seen the enemy and he is us. We fully have the capability to wipe life off the face of the earth and given our general stupidity, tribalism, creation myths, religious idiocy, an accident is the most likely path to our own destruction.

Nuclear war is not a extinction level event. It is quite survivable and winnable. I have researched this extensively since I live somewhat close to US nuclear silos in the midwest. What may not be survivable is the EMP effect, which will smash our infrastructure

Even during the Soviet times Russia was fully capable of wiping out any country on Earth in a blink of an eye. There are plenty of weapons that you have no idea about and everything is operational 24/7 – don’t you ever doubt that. Russia does not want a conflict with US but is fully capable to protect itself from any aggression. Russian air defence is the best in the world, intercontinental missiles also the best in the world, there are plenty of submarines that are super silent and capable of sending any country back into the stone age in minutes,- any aggressor should remember that day or night. US will never succeed in war with Russia no matter what weaponry it will try to use.

Our military is being trained to wear red hi heels. We trained the Iraqi army that fled when they out numbered ISIS 30 to one. We still haven’t defeated those goat herders in Afghanistan after more than 13 years. But lets look what Russia has produced.
Motorola spent a few years in the Russian army, not as an officer. He led the out gunned and out manned rebels in the Donbas to epic victories over the Ukrainians.
We can’t over look these facts.

You can see plenty of decommissioned nuke subs and other vessels bobbing with the tide at the Bremerton Wa. sub base too, if you use Google Earth.
