The Vatican hired Greg Burke as a PR man and he set the new pope up with a Twitter account, started engineering publicity stunts like Comrade pope has become known for: the little girl with the letter, trying on a firefighter’s helmet, allowing a young boy to hug his leg during a mass, phoning up his followers for a chat, selfies with fans, autographs, shaking the hand of a woman in the crowd wearing a pope beanie, kissing babies, public blessings on the sick and deformed, special seats and perks for the press, staying in lesser quarters and riding in a small car, etc. It’s good PR and the Proletariat eat it up.
