A Letter to My Countrymen…

Originally published at https://canadianguns.com and written by Francis Marion, valued TBP member. The articles are meant to educate Canadian gun guys on elementary political philosophy, as Francis lives in Canada. The wealth of writing talent among TBPers is truly amazing.

First columns are among the worst sort. Deciding where and how to begin is an agonizing, hair pulling, brain splitting task.

Where to begin? How about with right now? Where are we and how did we get here?

By the time you, dear reader, see these words the 2015 Canadian Federal election will have come and gone. For better or for worse and regardless of the outcome the challenges that face us as nation will remain the same. “How can this be??” you will most assuredly ask. For if our firearm friendly Conservatives are voted back into power, either with a minority or a majority, we will be safe from further encroachment upon our beloved past times, sports and property for a few more years. If either of the other major opposition parties are voted in we will be instantly on the defensive. There is a good or bad outcome by most voting standards whether you are left or right leaning.

But I would argue that this is true only to the extent that our political system in general is on life support. We are, at this stage in our history as a nation, and indeed in the broader perspective as a piece of western civilization, in a state of terrible decline. Most of the battles fought and won whether for property rights, self defence, freedom of speech or conscience are in a sense a rear guard action. We win battles dear reader but the broader conflict we are constantly in jeopardy of losing. Whether you recognize it or not western civilization, its democracy, its freedoms and its culture, is in a fight for its very existence.

Though it is difficult to recognize it while we exist within it we live in a time of turmoil and flux not only in terms of our political systems but in terms of the way we think and interact with one another. Our culture of free expression, dialogue, conscience and property rights is being soundly and thoroughly destroyed. Thinking and genuine discourse and communication have been shelved in favour of tweeting and sound bites amongst too many of our citizens. We have devolved intellectually into what the Athenians called ‘idiots’; an individual so detached from political life and interaction with his fellow citizens and so narcissistic and self-centered in general that his or her entire focus rarely extends beyond what is happening to them right now or around them at a very superficial level. Moreover, many of us even if we are thoughtful live in a state of fear when it comes to speaking what is on our minds or in our hearts.

Indeed, our political systems and our social cohesiveness (here and elsewhere) are terribly ill. Gun control is merely a symptom of the broader problems that plague us as a nation and civilization. My hope is that with this column we will not only explore what it is that rots our system from the inside out but what we can do about it on a practical level here, at home for our communities and for our nation as a whole.

Thus my goal here is both monumental and incredibly simple in its scope and task. In order to turn back the clock on the degradation of our society we must identify the following: We must first ask then recognize how did we get here and what went wrong? Then after this we must ask: How do we fix what is broken and what can we do ourselves?

If the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step then this is it. For our nation with all its flaws is worth the while and for our posterity whom we love more than our own selves – let us begin.

I am, your humble servant.

First of all Francis, recognize and accept that the left wing and right wing belong to the same bird!

Its like sitting in a bathtub with your brother. Not a matter of who sits at the tap end, or who sits at the round end. What matters most, is that you are both in the same tub!

Western civilization is the same. Humanity is in for a big shit storm because as you say, nobody gives a shit about what is happening beyond their own little corner of existence.

Those who have woken up and are fully aware of what has and is happening are in the minority. As to the majority who are still sleep walking through life, their awakening will be jolting.

Wow Francis. Thank you for sharing this!

I only have one thing/thought to add. What if all we “believe” about the West, freedom, the good ole’ days, really was NEVER true?

When, government/men/systems of control became involved, were we ever truly “free?”

In which part of “our” shared history (European/American on this continent), was life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness really true? When was “All Men Created Equal” really followed?

Good luck up there north of the border. Good luck to us all. Please keep sharing. Love reading the thoughts of the minds of most around here!

Yanno, I think much of how we got here, Frances, is that reality, as many see it, comes from the sparkle box, tablet, or stupid phone. I traveled alot. But when I talk to many they havent even left their home state.

Where is this place called ‘Canada’, anyway? I heard it was supposed to be north of here, but I’ll be damned if I can find it. I looked it up on my map and all I found was MurikaFuckYeah!, Mexico and some land just south of Alaska. Is that it?

This isn’t another one of those Atlantis myths, is it?

No , the way we got here is America has been ruled by a hostile elite (rich powerful liberal leftists Jews and liberal leftists treasonous whites ) .They have used their money ,their organizations , their media , their politicians to totally corrupt our culture. Where do you think cultural Marxism came from ?

Now they will use immigration of millions of third world bottom feeders to further destroy our civilization. Have you noticed Francis that most of these third world immigrants are in favor of gun control and every other socialist collectivist policy. These new voters will help the traitors in Washington and Canada to further undermine our nations.

My dear Francis Marion that is the problem in a nutshell. I usually charge 50 bucks for this kind of information but you get it all for free.WHITE PRIVILEGE has its rewards.

@ TE

In a nutshell – yes. More to come – remember I am writing for the uninitiated and Jim has graciously agreed to post my stuff here. As I told him – most of the stuff I will be writing will be like pablum to you guys but what they hey. Preaching to the choir can be fun even if it isn’t productive.

Lysander – map of Canada below. This should help you.

The people around the world are sick and tired of the fucked up world the neocons have created and are in the process of throwing them out around the globe. Coming to a town near you soon.

Francis, point well received!

Love, love, love the Canadian map, make one for us!

I used to go to Canada all the time, 20 minute trip, great exchange rate, able to behave like an adult without being PC’d to death. That stopped within a few years of 9/11 and your government bowing to my government about marijuana.

I miss coming over to visit you guys. But in my, apparently non-human, need for survival and avoiding risk of death by pissing off government goons, I just can’t seem to make myself go over the bridge.

If I want to be stopped, frisked and get an anal cleansing, I can stay here to do it…lol!

Keep writing my (hopefully) friend! You are helping to spread the light, I admire that.

Nice work, francis. Everybody should try their hand at this. Jim and stucky and HSF make it seem so easy (it’s not), but the diversity of thought and strong opinion is unmatched, IMHO. Jim is a gracious editor, probably wonders why I can’t indent (it’s a computer thing, beats TF out of me), he will make you look good. Keep up the good work

“…many of us even if we are thoughtful live in a state of fear when it comes to speaking what is on our minds or in our hearts.”

That may be the answer to the question you posed at the end of your essay-

“How do we fix what is broken and what can we do ourselves?”

Sometimes you just have to do what you can. Living with fear is like living with pain, if you just keep at it, you hardly notice it anymore. And all it takes is one other person to see you doing it who decides that maybe they can too, whatever it is.

There is a lot of talent sitting with their legs dangling off the edge of the burning platform, gazing off in the distance. You don’t see that in many places, let alone one blog. And I am deeply grateful for it.

@ Francis – as a fellow Canuck, I can sympathize, BUT all of Western civilization is beyond the point-of-no-return. Do you remember the Serenity Prayer?

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.”

Perhaps I’m becoming a wise guy in my old age because I realize more and more that as time goes on there are fewer and fewer things we can change and all the serenity in the world won’t be enough to accept that.
