Close, but according to geneticist Mike Hammer at the University of Arizona, Africans picked up another member of their family tree about 35,000 years ago. Africans are the only ones to carry this gene. This from Discover magazine article about interbreeding.
As far as I know, no one is talking about who or what they were interbreeding with.

On the “carrot” side, we were given an “incentive” to keep costly referrals down to a minimum in order to collect the full amounts of payment stipulated in the contracts each of us had to sign to belong to the H.M.O. “panel” of physicians.
They called the sequestered payment a “holdback.” We’d get it if we met their metrics at the end of each year.
Sort of like a truck fleet operator saying to the repair shop working on his vehicles “I’m only gonna pay you 80% of the charges you bill. If you don’t find anything else wrong with any of my trucks and recommend further repairs, you’ll get the other 20% at the end of the year.”
Wanna guess the quality level of the work done on those trucks? No fleet operator who wants to keep his vehicles on the road would make such a proviso.
Since the 1980s when this shit began, I’ve never yet seen a “gatekeeper physician” paid one fucking dollar in “holdback.”
To approach a patient with such working parameters in mind is malpractitionate from the get-go.

When I think of the crap coming out of many of the 3rd world crap holes I think of Zimbabwe . Robert Mugabi took the farms from the white farmers and give the land to the blacks. In no time the breadbasket of Africa was transformed into a country that couldn’t even feed itself .

I can’t comment on HMO primary care physicians, as one guy said to me, all you know (best) is the world around you.

It’s not our patients who hold us “Marcus Welby” types in contempt (most of ’em like us, or they wouldn’t come to us, trust us with their health and comfort and safety, recommend us to their friends and relatives) but the managed care administrators and other Business School types.
Not to mention the federal bureaucrats of HCFA – er, MAMA – or is it CMS this week?
The third-party payors can get away with chiseling primary care guys far more readily than they can when they’re dealing with the secondary and tertiary care specialists, so they want *us* to be handling most (if not all) the care needed by their sickest, most fragile, most costly clients.
Their clients, our patients.
I like just about all my patients, and even the patients I *don’t* like…. Well, I worry and fret over them, nag them, gripe about them, and do whatever I can manage – fair means or foul – to take care of ’em.
Just as it takes a sociopath to make a successful politician (see “Bill Clinton”), it takes an obsessive-compulsive personality disorder just to get into medical school.
You think we’ve got any *control* over that once we get out into clinical practice?
I notice they (whatever candidates) have a new plan to reduce med payments in Medicare or other programs. It always comes up around election time. How will we get any care as seniors when we vote to cut medical insurance payments further? Already, it is hard to find doctors willing to take Medicare/MedicAid patients.
