EARLY NEW YEARS RESOLUTION FULFILLED

On the New Years resolution thread the other day I resolved to be more surly in the new year. I fulfilled this resolution a couple hours early.

Our New Years day started out uneventfully as we arrived at the Valley Forge Casino, checked in to the Radisson, got our wristbands for the concert, and access cards for the casino. We met up with the other two couples we were going to the concert with, and had a couple drinks. Then we took the hotel shuttle to Morton’s Steakhouse for an excellent early dinner. Then it was back to the casino to drink some more before the 10:00 pm concert. It was an open bar from 9:00 to 11:00 within the concert venue.

The concert was in a fairly small auditorium with movable chairs for the seating. Avalon had gotten unbelievably good seats in row 2, directly in front of the stage. The crowd was laid back and in a good mood. There were no constraints, checkpoints, or overbearing security measures. Everyone was drinking and ready to enjoy some good music and a new years celebration afterward. We grabbed our drinks and settled into our row as the concert started at 10:00.

No one actually sits in their seats during a rock concert. The entire audience stood as the band started playing. The front row had extra room, as it extended up to the stage. There was no need for security, as the crowd was well behaved and having a good time. After a couple songs, some girls moved from the 2nd and 3rd rows up towards the stage. Avalon and her friend Kathy were among the girls who moved closer to the stage. The people in the front row weren’t irritated, blocked or angry. The more the merrier.

Then SHE arrived. Some twenty something chick with her big purse over her shoulder. She moved down the front row with a scowl on her face. It immediately become clear she didn’t have front row seats, but seemed terribly annoyed that there were extra people near the stage. Casino employees all had name badges around their necks. She had no name badge. She turned on her phone flash light and started demanding to see people’s tickets as they were trying to enjoy the music. After “catching” a few front row perpetrators she left the row to get two security guys.

These security guys seemed uncomfortable and wouldn’t have done anything if this pushy bitch wasn’t creating an unnecessary scene. The security guys told a couple people to go back to their seats. She wasn’t satisfied. She continued down the row demanding everyone show her their tickets, as people rolled their eyes and complied to this control freak’s demands. She is surely a liberal, Hillary Clinton voting, Obama loving, feminist shrew. Eventually, she got to Avalon and Kathy and berated them until they left the front row and moved back to our designated seats.

She was intent on ruining the experience for as many people as possible. She continued to stand directly in front of me texting to someone as the band was rocking five feet in front of her. My irritation had continued to grow as I watched this control freak rampage through the front row making people miserable when they paid a lot of money to enjoy themselves. She was the classic rules oriented know it all that everyone hates.

As she continued to demand tickets, I let my surliness emerge as I turned to Avalon and declared fairly loudly that the chick was a cunt. She heard me and immediately grabbed the security guy and whispered in his ear what I said. He looked up at me and I immediately said I hadn’t said anything. She told me I was rude and I gave her a big FU smile. The other security guard looked over at me and rolled his eyes, as he agreed with my assessment. Avalon was worried that I was going to get kicked out. I wasn’t. Within fifteen minutes the bitch decided to leave and ruin some other people’s evening.

Avalon and Kathy then shimmied back into the front row against the stage. They made friends with some other girls in the front row and they started talking about the control freak. The girl said, “some guy called her a cunt”. Avalon told her it was her husband.

Avalon was close enough to take these pictures.

They didn’t even know I was photobombing their selfie.

Avalon stayed up against the stage as the concert ended and got the lead singer’s guitar pick and one of the set lists they tape on the stage during the performance.

Based on this video, you know why Avalon is not videographer or backup singer.

We left the concert hall and attempted to make it to the casino for a midnight champagne toast. We failed. Some in our party had staying upright issues and the crowd was so large, midnight came as we waited in line. Avalon had been butting in line again and was well out in front when midnight came. Some stranger gave her a new years hug. It was really romantic. For the next three hours there was some more drinking, some losing money in the casino, and a double cheeseburger at 2:30.

My resolution to be surlier is off to a great start. I’ll have a tough time topping the start to this new year.

You are simply too funnee! This darn website of yours has become far too addictive over a very short period of time. As Billy Joel would say … “Don’t go changin’ ….”

havent seen them live in years, I didn’t even know they still went on tour. That album is one of the few that you can literally just hit ‘play’ on and listen to it all the way through.

Sorry to “go there” on this kind of thread, but its pretty sad to me that my fellow americans will dutifully show some random person their ticket stub just because she demands it and acts pushy. Instant, full compliance, even though she had no right to demand it. The instant obedience to a wanna-be authority figure like that doesn’t bode well for us as a nation of a civilization. Last time I was 3EB I was in my late teens, and we used to do things like sneak up forward at a concert all the time, and if someone that wasn’t an obvious security guard (its their venue, they make the rules, I have no problem with that) tells you to show your ticket or leave, you either do what you are told or get ejected, but some rando like tht, we would have laughed our asses off and insulted them until thy either cried or left.

I sure wish she would have asked admin to show her his ticket!

Years ago I saw Iron Maiden one night in Madrid. I was right up front near the right side of the stage and we were packed in like sardines. There was no seating on the floor. There was a chick that was jumping up and down relentlessly like she was on a pogo stick SCREAMING for the band to play Murder In The Rue Morgue. This continued throughout and in between every song played. She was literally right next to me on my left side and at times was using my shoulder to push off and jump higher. I told her a number of times to chill and quit screaming in my ear which was louder than the fucking concert. She just ignored me.

A short time later I cocked my arm and elbowed her in her right tit as hard as I could. I wasn’t aiming for her tit but I no longer cared where I hit her as long as it made an impression. She quickly found another place to be and I enjoyed the rest of the show.

NOTHING pisses me off more than to have paid big $ for decent seats at a show, then having some asshole decide to “move up” from their weasel-priced nosebleed cheap seats and insert theirself between me and the entertainment! Because when one makes it to the front, others follow, and pretty soon you’ll wonder just why it was you paid so much for your fucking tickets, or if you really need that “live effect” that’s getting more and more expensive.

This happened to us at the Orleans showroom in Vegas at a Grand Funk Railroad show. And these seat-jumpers were blatantly taking photos when it’s clearly prohibited. Ruined the show for me, I’ll never go back there.

Meanwhile back in the days of SSS’s youth concerts hadn’t been invented yet.
