EARLY NEW YEARS RESOLUTION FULFILLED

On the New Years resolution thread the other day I resolved to be more surly in the new year. I fulfilled this resolution a couple hours early.

Our New Years day started out uneventfully as we arrived at the Valley Forge Casino, checked in to the Radisson, got our wristbands for the concert, and access cards for the casino. We met up with the other two couples we were going to the concert with, and had a couple drinks. Then we took the hotel shuttle to Morton’s Steakhouse for an excellent early dinner. Then it was back to the casino to drink some more before the 10:00 pm concert. It was an open bar from 9:00 to 11:00 within the concert venue.

The concert was in a fairly small auditorium with movable chairs for the seating. Avalon had gotten unbelievably good seats in row 2, directly in front of the stage. The crowd was laid back and in a good mood. There were no constraints, checkpoints, or overbearing security measures. Everyone was drinking and ready to enjoy some good music and a new years celebration afterward. We grabbed our drinks and settled into our row as the concert started at 10:00.

HAPPY NEW YEARS TBPers

I can’t remember the last time I went out on New Years. I’m usually asleep by 11:00. Not this year. I’ll be partying until the wee hours of the morning. First we go to an early dinner at a steakhouse in King of Prussia. Then we head over to the Valley Forge Casino to drink and gamble until 10:00 pm. Then we ring in the new year with a concert by Avalon’s favorite band of all-time – Third Eye Blind. I hope I can stay awake until midnight.

It’s been an eventful year for TBP. Our visitor count went from 4.4 million last year to 6.1 million this year. As things get worse, more people gravitate to reality based sites like TBP. I must have attracted nothing but cheapskates, as the donation total dropped from $12,000 to under $11,000. It must be my tremendous business acumen that makes this site such a financial juggernaut.

I’d like to thank all the donors, all the contributors, all the commenters, and all the lurkers for being part of something bigger than themselves. We may disagree, fight, curse each other, and get bent out of shape on occasion, but at least we have a place to vent where the government and the mainstream media can’t interfere. I think 2016 will be a historic year. We are still in the midst of the Fourth Turning, so 2016 will certainly not be better than 2015. But we can all ride it out on a daily basis here on TBP.

See you next year.

And since SSS and the rest of you old farts have never heard of Third Eye Blind, here are a few of their hits.
