Somebody said that facts without numbers are useless but numbers without analysis is just as bad. Instead of the January temps, she should have listed the employment numbers.

The number of murders in Chicago in 2012 (various sources, including FBI) is in the mid 500 range. The Houston number quoted (217) is consistent with other sources.
The disparity is real and pronounced, just not as large as implied.

The demographics are a bit off too. Chicago is 31% non-Hispanic white, 32% black and ,28% Hispanic and 5% Asian. The Houston demographics are correct.

I disagree. I suggest the correct conclusion is that murder causes cold weather. This is obvious and evidenced by the fact that dead bodies soon go cold. Perhaps we are seeing a solution to globull warming? More research needs to be done..

New York City has 109 murders as of May 25 population 8.5 million. Same number as Houston with six million more people.

To find the cause find what is different. Oh, the black population in Chicago is much greater. I will guess that the murder rate difference of the cities is proportional to the black population in some way.
Maybe Star can help out with the math.

I think the correct answer here is that concealed carry laws cause global warming and warmer climates create more gun stores.
