Rush Limbaugh proposed today that this deal was a trap for Trump to step in it again so the media can pounce. I paraphrase, but that was the general idea. I think a TrumpTrap makes sense in this case. Whatever Trump said about it could be media spun to infinity and beyond.
Paradoxically, if the media (upon command of the Deep State) did set it up, it only makes Hillary look worse (even to her own base). And, in the end, how could it not cause some chaffing and discomfort within the dark crevices of the LGBT community.
