MS is really not that bad, the southern part is pretty nice in most areas. There are a few cities like Jackson, that are 80% black, that give the state its terrible crime and school stats. As with most places in the south, once you get out of the majority black cities, they are pretty nice places to live, and often pretty cheap too.

Yep, and I was one of the people who voted for him. Maybe he already was this stupid in 2012, and we just didn’t know it because he got so little attention, who knows. He said a lot fo things that made sense last time around, sounded a lot more like Ron Paul, and I voted for him rather than write in RP because of how my state deals with write-ins on the ballot, not because I was a big fan of his.
I just figure he is actually getting attention from the media this time because they figure this is a good way to siphon some votes away from trump in a few swing states. That, and he sounds like a raging liberal half the time he talks, so its probably a combination of the two. He seems to be really courting young voters with his marijuana thing. As a libertarian, I believe that its not anyone elses business what an adult does with or puts into their own body, simple as that, but rather than trying to explain that to people in a reasoned manner, citing the abysmal failure of the war on drugs, he constantly talks about the marijuana angle, because he knows a lot of young people don’t really give a shit about all that, and just want to be able to get high without worrying about getting arrested for doing so. As a libertarian, I am very disappointed in the Libertarian Party and its candidate.

The problem is when they fuck-up? I don’t care what they do – heroin, meth, bath salts, crack, etc. The problem is when they screw other peoples lives up. As long as I don’t have to pay for their rehab, medical expenses, baby mamas and their bastard children – then sure – do what you please.

Libertarian is a word that covers a lot of territory. Johnson territory would best be described by libertineism. He even looks like he smoked to much pot.
It seems to me that the chief redeeming feature of libertarianism is that while they support everyone’s right to be an individual, they are equally committed to not being forced to pay for the trouble people cause in their own personal lives.
This is why libertarianism does not make sense to me as a political party or movement. The idea that people should be left to their own independent thoughts and means is anathema to all the psycho controllers drawn into politics, which essentially is a struggle for power and control over broad swaths of society and human activity/behavior. And the idea that people should pay their own freight through life, with only a bare essential level of collective decision-making, control and government assistance, is a non-starter for the average ‘citizen’.
I see it this way: Libertarianism is to politics as anti-matter is to matter. This may be why the political types have such disdain for the libertarian mindset, and vice-versa…
