I had a Siamese cat that learned several words all on his own without prompting. Some of his favorites were mouse (his toy mouse), shrimp, and sushi. It only took me a couple tries to teach him to sit up and beg using cat bite size pieces of shrimp. A week or so later he waited until he caught my eye, walked over to the back door, and did the sit up and beg to let me know that he wanted to go outside. Pretty abstract thinking for an animal. I think cats can be just as smart as dogs, they’re just more independent. Kind of like TBP readers 😉

Cats have colossal attitude problems.
I’ve got a dog that can sniff out cash money. Entirely self taught.
Here’s the little bandit right here:

Dogs do all that work and we feed them. Cats don’t do any work and we feed them. Who’s the smart one?
I agree but almost every normal male loves a pussy!

One of my cats sits by the back door whenever the Husky goes out to do his business. When the dog taps the door to signal he wants to come back in the cat will cry and meow. The other cat will lay on the bed with the 16 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback and hold his ear in her paws while he sleeps. Cats are pretty cool to me.

First of all, anyone who doesn’t like cats is either afraid of them or a latent homosexual, if they’re a man. It’s just another phony tough guy act.
Secondly, I’ve owned both dogs and cats my entire life and when it came to understanding voice commands and words, almost all of the cats had a larger vocabulary than the dogs. It’s just that cats don’t always choose to obey the commands. It’s called independence.
Third, cats hunt and kill vermin in and around your home. Dogs do not.
My dog catches mice and eats every single bug, slug or worm that crosses her path. She usually brings them inside for a torture/play session and when the hapless critters stop moving she eats ’em. My best friend has a german shepard that catches mice too.

I/S- You seriously have to admire the talent of Rat Terriers when it comes to killing rats on the farm in barns, fields etc.

Iska, are we talking about real animals or women?
The smart one is the one that gets rid of the frickin’ cat.
