Here’s an October Surprise. Obamacare for 2017 plans.
A 54 year old man(not me) non-smoking and making $48,000 per year, meaning NO SUBSIDY, and living in Pinal County, Arizona can go on the exchange and buy the following plans from BCBS only. No other plans available.
1. Bronze $680.66/month $6,550 Deductible $6,550 Out of Pocket
2. Bronze $797.40/month $6,500 D $7,150 OOP
3. Silver $964.00/month $6,650 D $ 6,650 OOP
4. Gold $1,178.21/month $1,000 D $5,500 OOP
The same individual could go to his boss and ask for a $2,000 cut in pay and buy the same four plans with regard to Deductibles and Out of Pocket totals and pay the following because of the subsidy he would get.
1. Bronze $87.51/month
2. Bronze $204.85/month
3. Silver $371.45/month
4. Gold $585.66/month.
This would save him $5,116 per year AFTER taking the cut in pay. So, he either wins by lowering his pay thus lowering his income and FICA taxes, or he just lies and say his income is not as much as it is.
What a country.
Simply perverse economics.

We just got rolled for DOUBLE – the plan we are on costs us ~$300 / mo now, going up to ~$600 /mo next round. No good.
Looking at sinking from silver plan to bronze, paying all our own prescription costs and office visits. It just keeps getting worse and worse. If I found Pelosi and Reid doing a 69 down at the bus stop, I’d punch the living shit out of both of them. “Gotta pass the bill to find out what’s in it”, bitch? How about I open your head with a can opener, slowly, and see what’s in it?

I just had to continue to my spontanious outburst above considering your absolutely “fantastic” healthcare, which is very well marketed, at least in Europe and especially in Scandinavia where people seem to have the understanding that Obamacare is equal to our local healthcare system. And my example is from Finland and I know it is about the same in all Nordic countries (Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland). My wife was diagnosed with brain tumour in -97, she was operated in due course and treated with medicines accordingly for approximately 18 months. Think about the overwhelming process and that the surgeon was/is the absolutely guru in brain surgery in the world, Dr. Juha Hernesniemi. The man that has made India the nr 1 country in brain surgery thanks to the inspiration, knowledge and skills he has been able to contribute to his students! Then, fuckin’ hell, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. Things were not straight forward, but we didn’t proceed with any legal actions in the process as we have could, our best “wishes” to everybody who thinks it as a default! My wife was, again, operated (by one the leading surgeons in the field!), treated and medicated to all measures possible. She got new implanted breasts, to her own choice, a few decilitres bigger than the “old” ones. We took a calculation of the costs we had to pay and then some, my wife was never insured, just a citizen, paying for this personal armageddon approx. 2500,- US dollars including taxi fares and an occasional coffee in the cafeteria. Controls and follow up is included (up to 10 yrs). Today we are both unemployed, grinding forward, but not worried if we get sick, and that’s a few miles/kilometres without the mental ballast. Yes, we have two healthy, normal sons to look after and Finland is not a communist country. In this context, there should be a significant improvement in US healthcare by any meaures. Fuck Obamacare!
