He doesn’t think it’s worse for the government to censor speech than for private citizens to boycott speech purveyors they don’t like. He’s wrong. He doesn’t think Canada is worse than the US in that regard. It is. He doesn’t care “who wields the truncheons”, but government owns a lot more truncheons (and worse) and pays men to wield them. Canada is seriously fucked up when it comes to free speech and this video about one theater owner being intimidated by one feminazi’s threatened economic boycott is an attempt to distract from that fuckedupedness and make excuses for it.

Iska, I did not sense Gavin was comparing government censorship to private citizen boycotts. In fact, he never touched on government censorship. His point was simply that in a free society citizens should be allowed to see and hear alternative viewpoints. When either private citizens or government tries to drown out free speech, it is always wrong.

It starts at 2:40. He even says he doesn’t care who’s wielding the truncheons – totally ignoring the fact that only the government owns truncheons and has the legal right (in Canada) to use them to arrest people for “bad speech”. Just because his buddy the theater owner buckled to the feminazi’s threat of a boycott doesn’t mean all theater owners would. Boycott does not equal censorship.

Well of course they put people in prison in Canada and Europe for expressing questions about certain aspects of WWII History.
e.g.

And if you express attitudes towards the influx of immigrants into Germany even in a private Facebook club the police raid your home and cart you off to prison. After a “free trial” of course. In fact Ernst Zundel several years ago was taken by force from his home in Tennessee and sent to Canada, and this was a senior citizen who suffered from cancer, and was placed in solitary confinement in a Canadian prison cell with LIGHTS ALWAYS ON, for nearly a year, then sent to Germany where the government ARRESTED in the COURTROOM his attorney because she was truly defending him, she was sentenced to prison also.

“To think what is true, sense what is beautiful, want what is good: This implies the ability to identify and label lies, the ability to identify and label the inhumane, and the ability to identify and label injustice. It also implies character , knowledge of our immortality, steadfastness and incorruptibility. With such character we might shape a world for the many children who were here today. A world in which we are allowed to speak the truth without punishment.”
Sylvia Stolz
Ernst Zundel’s German defence attorney, jailed for trying to defend her client because she asked for proof of the Holocaust

And the German government doesn’t seem to be too enthusiastic about arresting the rapists and murderers of German women. Priorities, of course I understand.
