In a speech delivered Wednesday, that was supposed to be the pièce de résistance for one of the dumbest men to take up space in the political class, John Forbes Kerry declared himself an anti-Semite. He was not that polite about either. If he had simply said, “I hate Jews” that would be better than what he actually said. Specifically he said, “Israel can either be Jewish or democratic, but it cannot be both.” In other words, he hates the very concept of Judaism, not just a particular manifestation of it.
The implication, the only way to interpret it, is that he thinks Judaism is incompatible with liberal democracy. There’s never been a time when he has hinted at the same argument with regards to Islam. He has not even said this about Christianity. That would be laughably stupid, but Lurch is a laughably stupid man. No, he specifically singled out Judaism for this argument. Judaism is incompatible with democracy. Presumably, he would argue that Jews can either be Jewish or citizens of a democracy, but not both.
Sensible people have pointed out for years that Islam is incompatible with modern liberal democracy. The reason we say this is Muslims regularly say that Islam is incompatible with Western liberalism. Logically, Imams and Muslim scholars are good authorities on these issues so taking them at their word is a good idea. The fact that everywhere Muslims get to vote they go for theocracy confirms these claims. Muslims are not fond of democracy and they really hate modern liberal democracy.
Israel is a Jewish state and a liberal democracy. Christians and Muslims are free to do their thing, as long as they abide by the laws of Israel, which are written by the Israeli parliament. In theory, Israelis could vote to fling open their borders and let the Muslims pour into the country. They can vote for all sorts of things, because it is a democracy, but they choose to be a Jewish state that preserves itself as the homeland of world Jewry. As a sovereign people, that is their right and consistent with western liberal democracy.
John Kerry disagrees. He does not thinks Jews have a place in a liberal democracy, even one of their own. The modern Progressive sees national and ethnic identity as obstacles to the glorious future. It’s why they embrace open borders and multiculturalism. They truly believe that obliterating ethnic and national identity is the key to the lock. Jews are the most stubborn of ethnic groups because they combine race and religion into a single, immutable identity. That simply cannot work in the glorious future.
It was always just a matter of time before American progressives got around to Jew-hating. Once you go down the road of multiculturalism, you eventually end up trying to erase anything resembling cultural identity. Now that you-know-who is far enough in the past, no longer in the rear view mirror for most people, taking on the tree stump of ethnic identity was inevitable. For 2,000 years, Jews have kept their thing going in the West, despite every conceivable attempt to erase them. Now it is the Left’s shot at them.

Couple of quick thoughts. Many people complain about “Jews At The Top”. Given a cultural, multi-generational commitment to excellence and proficiency, why is this surprising? My second thought is this. I’m a conservative Roman Catholic which spans many generations in my family. My father was 82nd Airborne in WWII. He told me what he saw re: the concentration camps. He had no cause to invent anything. The Holocaust was real. As real as you and I sitting here at our keyboards..
More than just “a cultural, multi-generational commitment to excellence and proficiency”, the average Jew also has an IQ substantially higher than most other ethnic groups (probably as a result of thousands of years of cultural cohesion brought about mostly by antisemitism isolating them as an independent group).

You may need to do a little more research, and while you’re at it, begin investigating why so many people who do legitimate scholarly research in this area are often arrested and charged with crimes.

My parents were there too…and in the thick of it. Everyone was pressed into
service. Some segments were brutal, to the undesirables, (many others besides

Suzanna, I agree the issue is very confusing. This past summer, when visiting D.C., my friend and I visited the Holocaust Museum. I was underwhelmed to be honest. With all the hooplah, I’d really expected to walk through a vision of hell. And while the endless piles of shoes, clothing piles, boxcar with tightly stacked benches, et cetera and et al, were sobering and sad examples of the remains of some poor creatures hauled away to die in concentration camps, the exhibits, overall, did not WOW me. The little girl in red image from Schindler’s List was probably the most poignant, to me, scene there.

I have to say I’m pretty disappointed in the zman here. He has become one of my favorites lately. I’m not defending kerry or obama here, but you can’t make an honest assessment of this admin’s stance/policies towards Israel without including the fact that back in september obama approved a 38 billion dollar, 10 year aid package, increasing their yearly stipend of American tax payer money by something like 500 million a year. The largest in history. They have received more American taxpayer dollars than any other country by a large margin. No one else even comes close. To say the obama admin has ‘abandoned’ or ‘slapped Israel in the face’ is being dishonest. Zman sounds like most of the neocons here. So while keery/obama might publicly say these types of things, what going on behind the scenes is plainly obvious to anyone who takes more than a cursory look- we, the american people, via the obama admin’s handouts, are STILL PAYING FOR ALL THIS. I can’t recall Zman ever responding to anyone on here, but Id love to hear a response to this from him.

The so-called “extermination camps” were rebuilt by the Soviets after WW2 as propaganda pieces. Basic engineering principles dictate that the so-called “gas chambers” at Auschwitz could not have been used as such. The doors are not of a gas-tight design, the claimed method of “gassing” would have killed the “operators” of the “gas chambers”. As Germans were excellent engineers, such glaring “errors” in design would not have been possible…As to numbers, It would have taken decades to “process” all of the people claimed to have been exterminated. In fact, most of the deaths in the camps were due to typhus, which was the result of allied raids that destroyed much of the infrastructure.
