Iran Blames Saudi Arabia For Terrorist Attack, Vows “Revenge”

Tyler Durden's picture

Iran’s infamous Revolutionary Guards accused Saudi Arabia of being behind the twin terrorist attacks in Tehran, which killed 12 and left at least 39 injured, and have vowed “revenge.”

Earlier in the day, a group of four people in women’s clothes opened fire in the building of the Iranian Parliament, with a subsequent explosion. Another attack involving an explosion took place near the Imam Khomeini shrine. One of the perpetrators of the attack was detained and the rest were executed.

“This terrorist attack happened only a week after the meeting between the U.S. president (Donald Trump) and the (Saudi) backward leaders who support terrorists. The fact that Islamic State has claimed responsibility proves that they were involved in the brutal attack,” said the statement, published by Iranian media.

What is notable is that ISIS already claimed responsibility for the attack, so Iran is explicitly accusing Saudi Arabia of supporting the Islamic State.

The Saudi royalty have been riding a Salafi tiger. They feed it, but it would like to eat them – and probably eventually will. The Saudis probably didn’t specifically send ISIS to attack Teheran, but some of the “royal family” have undoubtedly funded ISIS and many Saudis support Sunni terrorism generally, so the distinction doesn’t exist in Iranian eyes.

Sounds to me as though it’s a distinction without a difference. If there’s a war between Iran and SA, it should be their business, though. As much as Trump is enjoying playing emperor, he needs to know that he doesn’t make treaties. That bling the Saudi royals hung around Trump’s neck doesn’t obligate anybody but Trump. Let him pay for whatever he wants to do to smooch up to those greasy assholes.

It appears the US is trying to get a war going between Sunni (SA) and Shia (Iran). Wahabbi’s and Salafi’s are shit, so the Saudi’s and their friends, including US and Israel, are the real terrorists.

I’m with Iran (Shia), Russia, and Syria.

True, but they do not have forces fighting in Syria (as far as I know).

Why wouldn’t the Saudis support ISIS? They share the same ideology and the same goals…namely killing every Shia they meet.

SA does support ISIS, including providing weapons bought from the US.

Exactly what I was thinking. A perfect scenario would be Iran, Syria, Hezzbolah, Lebanon and sympathizers in Turkey and Yemen go full scale ground war on the “Kingdom Nations” of SA, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Jordan and Oman, then the world ends up less 1 billion Islamists or so—we can only hope.
But only if the rest of the world just grabs some popcorn, Hot Tamales and Raisinets and just watches

It’s not a civil war. It’s an ethnic war. The Shiites are generally Persians; the Sunni Salafists are generally Arabs.

This fundamental Arab/Persian conflict is the most important aspect, if you want to try and make sense of events in the region.

Hello,
US has an agreement…SA sells oil in DOLLARS,
therefore US has the reserve currency.
Not for too much longer.
It is complicated.

It’s just too delicious to contemplate one group of terrorists killing the other.
If only the US had sense enough to stand back and let them.

Who would be the Axis of Evil this time and who might write the first chapter of this History: US-SA-ISIS-Israel-England or Russia-Iran-Syria-China-North Korea? I’m gonna pray for God to leave US out of this potential Armageddon and it not ignite the muslims in Europe and here…yet.

“I’m gonna pray for God to leave US out of this potential Armageddon and it not ignite the muslims in Europe and here…yet.”

Actually, let it start now. It’s going to happen sooner or later, so let it happen before the vermin get even more entrenched. While there’s still a chance to put an end to the insanity.

Best we do it so our kids and grandkids don’t have to. And I’m getting old.

It would be a tragedy to see the Iranians and the Saudis killing one another. We need to get a pool on how long before the Saudis get their asses kicked.

Only Oil has made the Arabs relevant. They know this and thus have a form of short man’s disease. Look at any map of the various Persian Empires of the past and Arabia was never a part of any of them. Why? Because they weren’t worth the trouble.
