It’s the people’s fault-remember the old saying that society gets the teenagers and the politicians that it deserves.
I’m extremely depressed this am.
I’m a member of a landlords group for mobile home park owners.
Last night at our monthly meeting we had a person from the county code enforcement board as a speaker.She was excited to tell us all about how the tenants will be ticketed for debris buildup,inoperable vehicles,etc.
The way the system currently operates,the property owner is responsible for fixing or removing the problem,which means costs and often eviction.
Inoperable vehicles are the biggie.Why-because they are an eyesore.But if they are on private property,who’s business should it be?
Most of my fellow landlords think that it is a good idea because they are stupid enough to believe that nothing will come back on them.Ultimately they are still the property owner.Not one of the others agree with me that is about the principle involved.
However,what depresses me is the erosion of property rights,people’s acceptance of the erosion,and the way zoning and code enforcement are used to screw the poor.
If I as the property owner am not exporting an ongoing nuisance(noise,smell,excess traffic) or a danger off of my property,or what I am doing could cause extreme danger,even though the risk of it occurring is low,why should my fellow citizens have the right to do anything about it?
Most of this is about aesthetics,which should never be a concern of government.Hell,if you can tell me how my property should look in a non deed restricted community,why shouldn’t a bunch of us chauvinists be able to get a law passed that unattractive women have to wear a veil?
I recently had to make a cancer patient get rid of his broken down truck which he did not have the money to repair.That was at a property outside my park where it stuck out like a sore thumb and some nosy neighbor reported it.
Inside my park I have several broken down vehicles,2 of which I own.An old truck that I want to have repaired for when my current truck bites the dust and a van which needs a computer.Why should I have to get rid of them?
I have a young girl that rents from me whose Blazer broke down last fall and she just got it back on the road because it has taken her this long to save the $ for the repairs.It did not bother me a bit to have that auto sitting there.If I as the property owner allow it,who the hell are my fellow citizens to say anything?Losing your auto in rural/suburban America is losing a large part of your freedom.
Code enforcement is used by the middle and upper class for multiple reasons including increasing property values,assuaging guilt about the plight of the poor while doing nothing about it,and virtue signaling.
These lying,psychopathic aholes in Congress who will not fix Obamacare and who meddle in other country’s business usually started out at the local level.When you believe that it is ok to meddle in your neighbor’s business and control what he does it is a short step to invading another nation to control them also.
Same belief system,different scale.
Sounds like time for a movement – to replace the head of the county code enforcement board, or eliminate it altogether. Why do we need these rules that reduce the ownership of private property?
Damn Urban Yankees: They move next to a farm and then demand something be done to stop the noise and smells; they demand we accept perversions; they kill babies and want to take our guns. They took over Leon County Florida with their stupid rules. My renter signed my agreement that he would not bring illegal drugs onto my property (so the Law could not seize my property) and not sublet without my written approval. When he left, I put the 3 day notice for a pending inspection on the door to refund his deposit. Then I found a guy and drugs inside so I immediately called the Tallahassee Cops about trespass and drugs. They said I better hope he doesn’t press charges, WTF? I said I’m following the Laws and the renter signed an agreement. They said it’s not valid because it violates his rights, WTF? The guy was a trespasser & had drugs on my property and Cops told me I had to formally evict him, WTF? I called the ex-renter and said get him out now or get sued. Shortly he called back and said problem solved; I said meet me there ASAP. He apologized; I gave him his deposit and changed the locks. I sold all my properties in Tallahassee and moved to Jefferson County which is still a part of America. Tallahassee is a wannabe Sacramento.
So it’s the MSM’s fault that nothing gets done/fixed in this country that was promised? Uh huh….
That seems to be placing blame on the GOP leftist appeasers more than the MSM.
And, yes, it is that MSM/Democrat chasing faction of the GOP that is why nothing is getting done or fixed.
