Sales of NFL tickets at the online ticket re-seller site TickPick have cratered, dropping off 17.9 percent which is a number far worse than the average Week 3 drop off, according to the Washington Examiner.
The NFL sales at TickPick dropped 17.9 percent this week, nearly double the 10.8 percent drop-off during Week 3 in 2016.

“We have seen a massive decrease in NFL ticket purchases this past week in comparison to years past. Week 3 seems to usually have less ticket orders than week 2, but this year ticket purchases are down more than 7 percent from this time last year,” a spokesman for TickPick to the Examiner.
TickPick wouldn’t say whether they think the fall in sales is a result of President Donald Trump’s many criticisms of the NFL for allowing two seasons, now, of anti-American protests during the playing of the national anthem. However, what else have we been talking about for the past week that could possibly explain that kind of steep drop off?
The president renewed his criticism of the NFL during a rally in Alabama for a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate. During the rally, the president expressed his hopes that NFL owners would stand up for the flag and the country and fire players who protest during the playing of the national anthem.
However, in person visits to NFL games are not the only area showing a drop off in fan participation. TV ratings are also cratering.
Ratings for Sunday Night Football are some of the lowest in decades, and ratings for Week 2 were down double-digits over last season’s numbers.
There are many consequences from this drop off in fan interest. With ratings continuing to fall, analysts are worried that the TV networks could lose upwards to $200 million in revenue and this week investors were even told to avoid investing in CBS stock over the expected continued loss due to its floundering football programing.

There is a fine line between a Crowd and a Mob. What you want at a sporting event is a crowd and the very last thing you want is a mob. Much of the pre-game stuff you see is there to psychologically keep the crowd in check. Playing the National Anthem reminds everyone that they are, in the end, rooting for the same team.
One other fine point to mention is that these stadiums are all taxpayer funded entities and the least the players can do is thank their patrons by acknowledging who paid for it all. The taxpayers paid for it and the National Anthem is their song.
I’ve been watching my first ever pre season hockey, holy crap, I’ve been missing a lot. I’m 51 and I want to play. Being born and raised in socal til 96, hockey to me is like Minnesota ice fishing. It was bullshit in middle school with the school admins doing everything to try and make us worship the fat-asses; sorry, but even as lame as I was in middle school, I still knew that if you need teachers to tell others you’re cool, you’re not.
It was bullshit in high school where “atheletics”, a fun term for mostly obese losers, got them special academics perks like optional homework and extra credit (not to mention my favorite, the test being “coach supervised” in the backseat of the bus); after all, why should books come before ball in school?
It was bullshit in college when a bunch of unemployed losers would swarm and trash campus throughout the fall and fuck up traffic with their tailgating; yeah, I’d love to hear all about your time in college while you’ve block my car in with your RV, jackass.
It was bullshit before this protest, where barely literate thugs would get special legal dispensation to DUI and wife-beat; after all, why shouldn’t a linebacker get a couple of free DUI’s every once in a while?
It was bullshit way before this, with its faux-patriotic sleaziness being a marketing strategy; after all, isn’t thanksgiving all about watching a TV and stuffing your face like the gluttonous pig you are what makes America great?
