Congresscritters Pay to Play at RNCC

This discussion of how and why the fundraising never ends is just another piece of supporting evidence that every single member of Congress is either corrupt, being corrupted or is on their way back home after their first term. I included a comment about storming the Bastille originally with suggestions for action, but in the atmosphere in which we now exist in this land of the free and brave, I decided I’d just let you read between the lines and develop your own thoughts about what would really make a difference.

What really enrages me is how these slimeballs could not care less that a majority of us peons loathe them and know they are dirty. They don’t care about voters in general because being an incumbent gives even the most obviously corrupt Congresscritter an advantage over an opponent. They only care about fundraising or “dialing for dollars.”

Start at 3 minute mark for the “dirt” on how it costs at least $200,000 to get a committee appointment from the slimebags in charge. I appreciate Buck’s comment that he was friendless when he got there and will leave that way, but it would not surprise me if Buck has an accident soon or gets a really nice committee appointment and retract his comments. We have seen worse out of our elected “servants.”

The video embedded in an article on Michael Snyder’s page. He is running for Congress, he says, to DRAIN THE SWAMP. I’m wondering if he were to get elected, how many terms he would “serve” once he settled into a comfy seat on that Gravy Train. Perhaps Snyder is sincere, but we’ve heard that song and dance before from candidates and believed their sincerity. Almost all of those candidates, by the way, got there, paid their dues and have settled in to PAY TO PLAY.

From the article…

“Well, I am simply not going to do it. I have pledged that I am not going to participate in this system, and I am the only one in this race that has made such a pledge. In fact, the other guys I am running against have already indicated that they intend to be very good members of “the club”. Needless to say, the “establishment” is not behind me, and so this is totally a grassroots effort. We are being funded by hundreds and hundreds of very small donations, and if you would like to pitch in, you can donate here…

https://www.michaelsnyderforcongress.com/contribute.html

When I go to Washington, I am going to do the job that the people sent me there to do.”

Sure. Good luck with those windmills.

Kenneth Robert Buck (born February 16, 1959) is an American politician who is the U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 4th congressional district.

Term limits are necessary. The longer they are there the slimier they become.

How does a constituent hold a Congresscritter to the fire about term limits? Oh, never mind… forget about term limits. How can we just HOLD one in the fire?

Term limits are dangerous because, in their last year, they would be willing to pass what they really want to pass, which would be bad for us, without the fear of not being reelected since they can’t run again. Just like when Obama said to tell Putin he would have more flexibility after the election. That’s because he couldn’t run for office again. Image perhaps a majority of the House and 1/3 of the Senate ending their last year in office together and imagine the type of laws they would want to pass?

VV, the original intent of the citizen legislator was to take local issues to D.C., get them addressed and RETURN to the region where he made a living. I.e., the goal of the Congress member was to NOT get re-elected because the issues had been addressed during his one or two terms. Having the Congress give themselves pay raises so that they all earn far more than the majority of their constituents opened the door to career politicians whose goals are NOT in line with their regional interests.

It is why the system is unrepairable and our liberties are unprotected.

Term limits work. They are the GAME CHANGER for the Congresscritter leaches.

You can only hold them to the fire by not sending them back to the fire. Give each human one term. No matter how good they seem they will be corrupt at the end of that one term so send somebody else. I would point out that Buck is saying the right words. At least he is saying that he will not be corrupted and that’s great. It’s also not true. He will be corrupted. I will be corrupted. You will be corrupted. Everyone will be corrupted. So never vote for anyone who has been there.

But Bluto (you might say) how will we know who will do a good job? I say that there is only one thing that you know now and that is that every single one of these assholes is there specifically to do a bad job. An incompetent like me can’t possibly do a worst job than a criminal moron so just keeping the criminals from going back has got to make the whole thing better. If nothing else, you are at least forcing the corrupting influences to corrupt a lot more people.

Don’t bother thinking about term limits. You can’t ask a criminal to limit his crimes. You yourself need to impose the limit of one term. Oh and I would also add that you probably wouldn’t want to ever vote for an organization who has stated in the last go round that they didn’t care even slightly what their constituency wanted. They think that it is their job to select the candidate, not yours. So never vote for a democrat. If somebody says that they are a democrat they are in effect saying that they have already been picked to be your candidate. And it might not be a very good idea to vote for a republican either. It would be really hard to find one that wasn’t a rino and you all know this.

We aren’t smart enough to rule ourselves, but we can be smart enough to keep anybody from ever getting a second chance at shoving it in hard and deep. I personally vote for Stucky. Send him there first. I’ll go too if they have beer in the cafeteria. If they don’t then you will have to find someone else. Just don’t send anyone back. Not McStain. Not turtle man. Not Ryan. Not Nobody.

That would have to apply for all seats and offices, such as president, vice president, Senate and House. If you hold one, you can never hold one of the others in your lifetime.

Below I posted a link to a site called kickthemallout and the idea is that if ten percent of voters voted AGAINST every incumbent EVERY time (and yes VV… that would mean two terms in each branch… so a Congresscritter theoretically could run for President or get a judicial appointment. But, with limited terms that Congresscritter would have to perform in a way that brought them national recognition without the longterm influence peddling that multiple terms give them.)

The first days in office are exciting, after winning the race and the congratulations for a job well done confirm you made the right decision to make a change in Washington.
And so it begins.
You find out that the only way you will make a difference is to get on a committee, otherwise you will never be connected with sponsoring a bill and you will have nothing to show in the next election.
But, to get on a committe, you have to be liked and a team player; are you? I know you want to change things, but your going to have to learn to compromise to get what you want; you wanted to be a politician, didn’t you?
It ends up being a mathematical equation, the more you support the system the more power you will possess. The more you want to change things, the more shuned you become and the less chance you have in the next elections.
It seems the system is locked and unbreakable, hats of to anyone who can beat the system.

When I used to vote, I never voted on anyone based on their being on a certain committee or sponsoring a bill. I voted based on how they voted on legislation. But now, I just don’t vote anymore because it changes nothing.

As Buck mentions in the interview, there is intentional avoidance of “hard votes” which might forced a spineless wretch to be held accountable for his/her vote. They prefer to AVOID voting on such legislation by not allowing it to come to the floor. Stucky’s been practicing on raccoons, but I’m thinking what we need to clean up Congress are some really good weasel whackers.

I hope this project Kick Them All Out gets revitalized and takes off. Even if it does not, there is a tremendous amount of really good “I hate Congresscritters” literature archived on the site…I don’t know if the Forum is still up, but at one time I gabbed and bitched there too. Longagofaraway when I used to attend tea parties and talk about the possibility of there being honesty in Congress. Now? I just want to Kick Them All. Not necessarily OUT. I just want to kick them.
From the intro page…

The Congress could have stopped everything that’s happening; the wars, the Wall Street takeover, the TRILLION DOLLAR defense budget they just passed. Our so-called representatives have sold us out so many times it makes my head spin and what do we all do? We not only let them keep their jobs but we also allow them to give themselves a raise for the fine job of screwing us. Last time round they gave themselves a $4,500 raise. When was the last time you got a raise like that? The way we’ve been holding our representatives accountable is to let them keep their $174,000 a year jobs so they can stick it to us for another two years! In case you’re wondering, that’s $14,500 a month!

Listen. If we are ever going to get a grip on our government, we’re going to have to start acting like the employers that we are. The Congress critters work for US, not the central bankers and transnational corportions. What would you do If you owned a company and none of your employees listened to you, they lied to you, didn’t do the jobs you gave them to do, and in fact, were actually working for your competition and selling your company down the river as fast as they could?

How To Find Out Who Your Federal Representatives Are

The United States Congress is comprised of a lower House, the U.S. House of Representatives, and an upper house, the U.S. Senate.

The term in office for a member elected to the U.S. House of Representatives is two years. The term for a member elected to the Senate is six years.

Every two years there is a general election where every member in the House of Representatives is up for reelection. Every two years only 1/3 of the members in the Senate are up for reelection so it will take three election cycles to clean out the incumbents in the Senate.

GovTrack.us provides an easy way to find out who your representatives are. Simply click on the GovTrack.us logo below and select your state from the drop-down menu.

I became precinct captain in the 2008 election and learned a lot about how the Republican party works in Oklahoma. As a matter of fact, MOST of the tea party folks I knew who attended the Convention were precinct captains. OVER HALF of all precincts in Oklahoma were unrepresented, so if ANYONE showed up to the meetings, by default, they were precinct captains.

I cast votes for thousands of people I never met. What power!

However, at the “real show”, the state convention? The powers that be let us little tea partiers KNOW they were in charge and if questions were asked that didn’t suit them? They pulled out their rulebooks and told us we were out of order.

Powerful people at all levels seek to keep that power. Power that belongs to free people should never be consolidated in the hands of a few.

When I worked for a big contractor who was facing the contract bid being offered as a small business set aside (talk about a corrupt scheme!), they simply “found” a small business … actually created one via networking… the head asshole found a guy at his church who was married to a woman of Native American descent and her family jumped at the chance to create a company to partner with Boeing. They parlayed that into a small empire and became friends with the Oklahoma legislators, who made sure they stayed on that Gravy Train until it crashed. I can’t remember when the set aside for minority owned companies became a nondeciding factor, but for YEARS, those contracts were almost untouchable.

Congresscritters jobs are the ultimate in “set aside” programs in government without term limits.

That doesn’t work either. They have a way of neutering people that may be capable of draining the swamp. Ron Paul didn’t become president because the RNC cheated at the convention. Do you think they aren’t trying to rig election results? Many have succeeded. Though, they didn’t succeed with the presidential election this time. From an article I read, the “good guys” where changing the hacks back to original numbers after the “bad guys” made their changes.

My father suggested the only way to fix the corruption in Congress would be to take the entire Congress BAR NONE and put them on a floating barge on the Potomac and then elect new representatives. The new ones might be tempted to accept bribes and forget what they are there to do, but all they would have to do is look out the window at the Potomac where all the former Congresscritters were floating on that barge and it would help keep them honest.

“Imagine buying cars the way we buy governments. Ten thousand people would get together and agree to vote, each for the car he preferred. Whichever car won, each of the ten thousand would have to buy it. It would not pay any of us to make any serious effort to find out which car was best; whatever I decide, my car is being picked for me by the other members of the group. Under such institutions, the quality of cars would quickly decline.

That is how I must buy products on the political marketplace. I not only cannot compare the alternative products, it would not be worth my while to do so even if I could. This may have something to do with the quality of the goods sold on that market. Caveat emptor.”

Not really intending to belabor this post, but I did want to respond to a couple of comments. All politics SHOULD BE LOCAL. No one who has spent the majority of their lives and careers in Congress can be uncorrupted. Someone’s comment above suggested exactly that… unless you intend to only serve two terms (nods at JC Watts from Oklahoma) and DO IT (glares at Lankford who took Coburn’s Senate seat), you are corruptible.

Maggie, what makes you think that two terms is in some way a magical number. Two terms is one term too long. One term is long enough for anyone to succumb to the corruption of those who seek to turn the government to their favor. One term is enough for anybody. Go to washington. Party hearty for one term. Take your big fat check and your lovely pension and health care and go home. Most merkins would never have to work again. The outrageous salary would pay off a nice house. The pension would cover all the bills, and the healthcare would take care of the rest.

Oh, and anyone caught trying to influence anyone in washington gets a one way ticket to that barge in the Potomic.

I accept your modification to the barge plan… One term and that’s IT… either you get the issue addressed or you go home.

The majority of voters are “single issue voters” so it would certainly make a difference. The “two term” solution was promoted as a way to allow a citizen legislator to “learn the ropes” for a term, then address the needs of his constituents in the second term. NOW, I know it is to make sure they fuckers get a retirement check. You know that it only takes two terms to secure a LIFETIME pension from Congress, don’t you? (One term for a Senator)
