Steve Bannon Believes Trump Has 30% Chance Of Finishing His Term

Tyler Durden's picture

Gabriel Sherman, the former New York Magazine journalist whose reporting helped topple former Fox News chief Roger Ailes, has published a wide-ranging piece in Vanity Fair where he says private grumblings of senior administration officials are spilling out into the open as Trump’s behavior has grown more erractic, and that many of the administration’s key players are close to a breaking point.

Sherman begins his piece by claiming that Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker’s infamous interview with the New York Times, where he reportedly fretted that Trump would start “World War III” and compared the White House to “adult daycare” represents an inflection point in the Trump presidency. The interview, Sherman claims, “brought into the open what several people close to the president have recently told me in private: that Trump is “unstable,” “losing a step,” and “unraveling.”

Kelly is reportedly miserable, but is refusing to quit out of a sense of duty to try and keep Trump from making a disastrous decision like ordering a preemptive nuclear strike on North Korea. According to Sherman’s sources, Kelly and Secretary of Defense James Mattis have discussed what they would do if Trump ordered a nuclear strike…

According to two sources familiar with the conversation, Trump vented to his longtime security chief, Keith Schiller, “I hate everyone in the White House! There are a few exceptions, but I hate them!” (A White House official denies this.) Two senior Republican officials said Chief of Staff John Kelly is miserable in his job and is remaining out of a sense of duty to keep Trump from making some sort of disastrous decision. Today, speculation about Kelly’s future increased after Politico reported that Kelly’s deputy Kirstjen Nielsen is likely to be named Homeland Security Secretary—the theory among some Republicans is that Kelly wanted to give her a soft landing before his departure.

One former official even speculated that Kelly and Secretary of Defense James Mattis have discussed what they would do in the event Trump ordered a nuclear first strike. “Would they tackle him?” the person said. Even Trump’s most loyal backers are sowing public doubts. This morning, The Washington Post quoted longtime Trump friend Tom Barrack saying he has been “shocked” and “stunned” by Trump’s behavior.

But perhaps the most alarming claim in Sherman’s report is that Steve Bannon believes Trump only has a 30% chance of finishing out his first term. And furthermore, the biggest threat to Trump’s presidency isn’t impeachment, but a provision of the twenty-fifth amendment that would allow his cabinet members to exercise emergency measures to remove him from office.

Even before Corker’s remarks, some West Wing advisers were worried that Trump’s behavior could cause the Cabinet to take extraordinary Constitutional measures to remove him from office. Several months ago, according to two sources with knowledge of the conversation, former chief strategist Steve Bannon told Trump that the risk to his presidency wasn’t impeachment, but the 25th Amendment—the provision by which a majority of the Cabinet can vote to remove the president. When Bannon mentioned the 25th Amendment, Trump said, “What’s that?” According to a source, Bannon has told people he thinks Trump has only a 30 percent chance of making it the full term.

For what it’s worth, odds that Trump will be impeached before the end of his first term have been more or less steady around 35% for the past three months. Though PredictIt doesn’t have odds for whether the twenty fifth amendment will be invoked before the end of Trump’s first term.

If Breitbart’s coverage is any indication, a rift between Trump and Bannon that erupted when the former supported the doomed candidacy of Republican Senator Luther Strange in a runoff primary vote against former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, who won the primary and will likely go on to replace Strange as the senator holding AG Jeff Session’s old seat.

But that doesn’t make Bannon’s remarks – if the report is accurate – any less disconcerting.

Yeah. Let me Stucky-tize your sentiments. Holy fucking shit!!

It’s not like Bannon is some schmuck from the street. We’re talking about a White House power player and insider!

I’ve dismissed out of hand these predictions of a Trump ouster … made mostly by clueless MSM fuckwits. But, damn … this changes things.

Edit: The article in the first paragraph has a link to the Vanity Fair article. It is REALLY worth a read. The situation as described in more detail make me wonder if it’s even worse than Bannon says.

Gee, Israel-based Breitbart, in the person of Steve Bannon, gives a “30% chance”. I wonder, did Mr. Bannon consult with Las Vegas’ Mr. Adelson for a quote on the odds? What pablum for consumers of ZERO INFO, MAX DISTRACTION.

TBP ought to consider very seriously, given the format, whether indiscriminate postings of this caliber — typical of ZH nowadays — represent the mission and intention of this site. If so, ADMIN, then I would definitely program WEEKLY listings of postings, instead of instant e-mails alerting us to such drivel. My two cents’ worth. Else, I for one shall depart and visit occasionally as time allows.

This post, and many others, simply wasted my time in the expectation of — as Robert Gore claims for SLL — exceedingly strict and high standards (or words to that effect). Now, Doug “Uncola” seems the exception that proves the rule of low quality of frequent postings on TBP. I’ll catch up to Doug on his site, thank you very much. And, perhaps another denizen of TBP, more appreciative of such offerings as this one, can, once again, suggest that I STFU.

Wait one minute here! Who in hell owns the responsibility for all this never ending drama from the Media and the inner circle turmoil of his own cabinet in Washington? Are you still going to seriously defend that Trump was the most intellectually qualified individual to take on the responsibility of President of the U.S.A.? Trump is a lifelong NYC Elitist Progressive Democrat, whose only true ideological conviction is to his narcissistic megalomania, he sold himself to America with lies of the other candidates and simple marketing sales pitch catch phrases, in the same way he sold Trump University to the rubes! P.T. Barnum must be rolling in his grave in envy of Trump! Americans really need to look back and think of the character of both candidates we chose to elect, there is the truth of all this BS, Pathetic people!

This is important, velly.

It was reported that our Sec. of State called Trump a moron; today I read that Trump lashes back and says let’s compare IQ’s.
As you are all aware, there have been other disruptions with the Trump team members since Jan. 20.

I’ve never been more concerned about Trump continuing as Pres. and the enemy is eyeing the 25th amendment.

Never underestimate a rat when he’s pushed into a corner. When a rat has nothing to lose and no place to go, he can pull some crazy things. We don’t know what has already been prepared behind the scenes. The press and deep state seem to be very cocky and are in denial of what happens to traitors in the real world. You know, if Trump’s cabinet decides to overthrow him then he could always pull an Abraham Lincoln type of hanging on those most visible to the public, and a Joseph Stalin shot in the head deal on the lowlings like when he had 1000 shot every day between 1934 and 1941, in the basement and at night, out of sight.

Trump Really Is A 4D Chess Master
By
RightAhead – http://rightahead.news/trump-really-is-a-4d-chess-master/
October 6, 2017
Trump wants his staff to portray him as a “crazy guy”.

In an Oval Office meeting earlier this month, President Trump gave his top trade negotiator, Robert Lighthizer, an Art of the Deal-style coaching session on how to negotiate with the South Koreans.

Trump’s impromptu coaching came in the middle of a pivotal conversation with top officials about whether or not to withdraw from the U.S.-Korean trade deal. Sources familiar with the conversation paraphrased the exchange for Axios, and the White House did not dispute this account.

A number of senior officials and cabinet secretaries were present for the conversation, including Defense Secretary Mattis, Agriculture Secretary Perdue, and Secretary of State Tillerson. At issue was whether the U.S. would withdraw from the Korean trade deal — an action Trump threatened but still hasn’t done.

“You’ve got 30 days, and if you don’t get concessions then I’m pulling out,” Trump told Lighthizer.

“Ok, well I’ll tell the Koreans they’ve got 30 days,” Lighthizer replied.

“No, no, no,” Trump interjected. “That’s not how you negotiate. You don’t tell them they’ve got 30 days. You tell them, ‘This guy’s so crazy he could pull out any minute’.”

“That’s what you tell them: Any minute,” Trump continued. “And by the way, I might. You guys all need to know I might. You don’t tell them 30 days. If they take 30 days they’ll stretch this out.”

Trump Derangement Syndrome is a consequence of having a President you hate who’s smarter than you and knows how to push your buttons. In other words, Trump has Game.

All that’s left to hope is that Trump uses his mindfucking powers for Nationalist Good instead of Globalist Evil. DACA, imo, will be the first real test of his loyalties. The entire Globohomo establishment, the uniparty, the media, plus a majority of shitlib Whites and their yippy nonwhite pets want DACA enshrined in law. Those of us who see the demographic nation-wrecking writing on the wall want DACA whacked, all 800,000-leading-inevitably-to-millions of illegals sent packing for their native homeland. 4D chess means nothing if you’ve boxed your own king into a corner to save one of your pawns.

I’ve seen many with higher integrity get trashed in DC and others with the scruples of a low life atain lofty offices in government, so in my opinion, whatever happens to President Trump will not be based on the intentions of his administration, but on the way the scale falls on his enemies versus his friends, in and around DC.
He started with the interest of the common man, but over the course of his term in office, has become more and more dependent on others with a history of progressive ideologies and connections with the banking cartels. The thought he is trying to gather a consensus of diverse groups to eventually promote his programs is looking less and less credible.
I don’t know where this will end, but am afraid the erosion that is taking place is hurting his appeal to to many Americans. I’m hoping we don’t end up in a shitstorm based on a presidents desperate actions to regain his confidence in running the country.

MSM making up more Fake News – nothing to learn here, move on.
Also, it seems like they are making an attempt to conjure a removal by repetition – it really doesn’t matter how many times they repeat “25th Amendment” if the action is never taken.
If it is taken – that will likely trigger the Crunch as half of a nation decides that a coup is really not acceptable …

Read the text of the 25th section 4. A majority of the cabinet can vote to oust the president – temporarily – but after the president contests, it would take a 2/3 majority in both houses to sustain the ouster. I don’t think the house could rustle up 292 house members to oust the duly-elected president.

His veracity is surpassed only by his taste in women.

I listened to this putz on NPR for half an hour the other day ripping apart Bannon after he gave him a candid interview and the host had him admit that his progressive beliefs allowed him to deceive people in order to get them to open up to him. This is an ideologue, not a journalist.
