I keep hearing veterans and others using the expression “I served” or “He served”. The question we all need to ask is served who or what? Their country? The cause of humanity, justice and morality? The Deep State? Or did they serve the cause of unjust wars, the killing of innocent people in faraway lands, the destruction of nations, the creation of chaos and poverty…the cause of injustice and immorality? Did they serve the American people or the interests of bankers, the military-industrial complex, Israel and other foreign and domestic interests? Every war fought by the US since 9/11 was an undeclared war that violated the US Constitution, the Christian Just War Theory and the Geneva Convention on War. These were not wars of self defence, the only moral justification for war, but wars of aggression, wars of mass killing, wars of theft and plunder…evil wars. So what does that make our veterans? Certainly not heroes unless unjust wars and murder in the cause of the state is something that we should honour. “War is a Racket” by Major General Smedley Butler provides an accurate account of what war is really about. So how do we treat our veterans on Remembrance Day? Although many have been lied too and deceived by US government and MSM propaganda, they are nevertheless responsible for their actions as we all are. They should not be honoured but held to account for what they in the “service” of their country have done because without their willingness to kill, the US government, and the Deep State that controls this government and governments throughout the western world, would be powerless to create wars that enrich those who pull the strings from behind the curtain. And the first step is to tell veterans that they are not heroes but enablers of an evil Deep State. The second step is to remove Remembrance Day memorials from the control of governments and the Deep State and place them in the control of the people. The third step is to expose and hold to account the members of the Deep State who have committed unspeakable evil throughout the world.

There are 364 days to discuss that. Not today.

I think you are correct.

Fux News is saying words like “respectful”, “somber”, “honor”. I just wish our MIC would be somber, respectful, and honorable the OTHER 364 days a year … BEFORE they send men and women to fight THEIR wars.

OK, I’ll shut up now.

I agree Stucky. If only it was. I had just returned from Service at Cenotaph and was being a bit too abrupt with previous response. Not respectful. So to wdg please take no offense as it appears that you are on my side. Like you and Stucky I wish more folks would be less inclined to sing songs for the people who make their money beating the war drums in all the corners of the world.

Military worship day seems like the absolute best day to discuss this. This was originally a day to remember the horrors of war and to look back on the mistakes that got people into that mess. Seems discussing how our government now lies us into war, how those who voluntarily sign up are assisting the government in their horrific and immoral conquests, etc. is a very appropriate topic. Maybe Memorial Day is not an appropriate day as that has always been one to honor those lost.

Every war since 1945, not 9-11.

It used to be a day of remembrance to honor a global horror that nobody ever wanted to repeat. Now in the US (especially) it is a day to worship those whose ignorance of how government works, why we ACTUALLY fight, and who these wars benefit, empowers the war profiteers with the tools they need to wage these senseless wars of choice. Once an honorable holiday of remembrance has become little more than a day to worship war and the almighty destructive state.

Worst. Holiday. Ever.
Regarding the poem, toss that torch back to the dumb fuckers who died. WW1 was a total waste, as have been all subsequent wars. Mothers, don’t let your babies grow up to be soldiers…

Would it not make sense for conservatives to take the lead and become the party of no more wars? What could progressives do but follow? Too many issues are muddying the water and it’s difficult for any of us to chart our course to the future. Make it simple. Start by calling for ending war. End U.S. nation building and regime change policies. Bring our troops home and allow all those who have helped us, to become citizens, thereby eliminating our need to return to protect those who may suffer from retribution. Start with a clear message and Americans willing to raise their hands when asked who is responsible for this. No More War-TBP. And who are these Americans willing to point at themselves, display End the War bumper stickers and change the conversation? Why, it’s a rag-tag bunch of no bodies. What’s the saying? Lead, follow or get out of the way. Admin. How about some TBP bumper stickers with a No More War message? Price them so sales will support TBP site. Maybe it’s one thing that a majority of us can agree on.

There are no good guys, there are no bad guys, every position is subjective.
Whatever system, for whatever reason ,that you choose to stand for, that you chose to stand, is what is honored this day.
The idea that there is some noble cause out there that would be “right” or “just” or that mans true nature is not one of aggression and violence towards his fellow is ludicrous.
Honor the warriors if you could not be one, for whatever system you exist in, it is surely paid for by his trials.
The dead we honor on Memorial Day, this one is for the living.

The post below created a fair amount of reaction from the readers of https://www.theburningplatform.com/2017/11/11/remembrance-day/, both negative and positive. Some agreed with the sentiments expressed but thought the timing inappropriate. Others just disagreed whereas some supported both the message and timing. I posted it on Remembrance Day because that is when people are fully engaged in issues related to war, the justification for war, who benefits from war, and the cost in human suffering and economic loss from wars. I used to be one of those brainwashed useful idiots who showed up at the Remembrance Day ceremony in downtown Ottawa to watch Chretien, Martin, Mulroney or Harper place a wreath at the grave of the unknown soldier and cheer the surviving veterans as they marched by. Not anymore because I now that just about all wars are bankers wars, wars of, by and for the Deep State. They could care less about dead and maimed soldiers and the unspeakable tragedy caused to innocent families in Canada and in faraway lands; physically and mentally destroyed men returning home, many of whom commit suicide; a lost husband, a missing father for heartbroken children, suffering families. All veterans have to take a stand because wars would not be possible without soldiers willing to fight and die for unjust and immoral wars. The only justification for war is self defence and this is well defined by the Christian Just War Theory and Geneva Convention on War. This has nothing to do with pacifism. In the defence of my nation, I am prepared to strap on a rifle, or do whatever is necessary, and go into battle to defend Canada….but I will not support any unjust wars by the evil Deep State and the governments they control, Liberal or Conservative. At present, there are no external threats to Canada. The War on Terror is a massive fraud; it is really a War OF Terror led by the US and NATO allies including Canada. The greatest threat to Canada is not external – neither Russia or China – but comes from high treason within a government that supports the mass invasion of Canada and dispossession of Canadians of European backgrounds by totally incompatible people from non-European countries, mostly from the third world.
