Roy Moore Refuses To Concede: “We’ve Got To Go By The Rules”

Looks like I was wrong again. Isn’t the first time and surely won’t be the last time.
Tyler Durden's picture

With 100% of precincts reporting, Doug Jones has officially defeated Republican Roy Moore in what was undoubtedly one of the most controversial special elections in modern history. But unsurprisingly, given the obstinance he displayed by steadfastly refusing to step aside following allegations of inappropriate sexual contact with teenagers, managing to infurate conservative commentator Matt Drudge in the process…

… Moore is taking it one final step too far, and is refusing to concede.

In a late-night speech to his supporters (not a concession speech, mind you), Moore said he realizes that “when the vote is that close, it’s not over,” later saying that “it’s going to take some time” before the final outcome is determined.

Moore suggested that the state’s “recount provision” – which allows for a recount when the margin between the two leading candidates is less than half a percentage point – could still tilt the race in his favor.

“We’ve still got to go by the rules about this recount provision. The Secretary of State has explained it to us, and we’re expecting that reporters will go up there and find out what’s going on.”

However, as Jones pulled away, it quickly became apparent that a recount would be unlikely. The final margin was 1.5 percentage points, more than enough to clinch an uncontested victory for the Democratic former prosecutor.

Jones’s victory was aided by heavy turnout among Democrats in the state’s largest urban centers, including Birmingham and Mobile, and wealthy Republicans in the state’s suburbs abandoning Moore in favor of a write-in candidate.

As the New York Times reported, about 20,000 voters wrote in a third candidate – a margin that’s roughly equivalent with Jones’s margin of victory.

Shortly after Moore’s speech, Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill was asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper if he expected “anything other than Mr. Jones being the next senator from the state of Alabama.”

“I would find that highly unlikely to occur, Jake,” Merrill said.

In his victory speech, Jones to his supporters in Birmingham, where he said his campaign was about “finding common ground” and that Alabamians led by example in showing the rest of the country how to be united.

“I have said throughout this campaign that I thought Dec. 12 was going to be a historic day,” Jones said.

Jones also noted Tuesday’s election fell on the same day as his 25th wedding anniversary, saying “Dec. 12 has always been a historic day for the Jones family.” Jones is the first Democrat to win an Alabama senate seat in 25 years.

While stock futures dumped after it became apparent that Jones would win, they’ve already climbed back. Despite the typical back-and-forth yesterday about when the reconciled bill would be finalized, investors still expect the plan to be signed into law before the end of the year. As we discussed earlier, yesterday’s vote needs to certified before Jones can take the oath of office. That’s unlikely to happen before the new year.

Not that it will matter now , since there was an overwhelming turnout of democrats the question is as in most elections how many illegals , felons , dead voted not to mention mail in ballots that have not or will not be considered .
Republicans needed somebody with a pair of brass balls to poke the likes of the McConnels and other back sliding RINO’s in the eye .
Just as stated though it reall wouldn’t change shit !
We are doomed economically , socially and morally , I will be in the bunker with the high quality Bourbon !

You sound like Ellen Sauerbrey in 1994, lol. It appears she & Moore lost for similar reasons. The heavily populated urban precincts in Birmingham and Montgomery (in Moore’s case) and Baltimore and PG County (in Ellen’s case) tipped the election for their opponents. If they want to remain viable, Republicans had best study these elections.

Some reports already indicating a historical Republican vote of approximately HALF normal. Many normally red counties flipped blue in Late REPORTING. First-ever electronic tallying enforced by a recent State measure to purge electronic data immediately after the election. Anybody else smell a Hildabeast op?

Go check out Trumps Tweet about the election. This special election was about giving Soros enough rope to hang himself. I expect to see him charged with treason before the AL election is sorted out. Soros controls the voting machines and MI/NSA have the proof. This is based on answers provided to questions by Q .

The NSA hasn’t helped Trump the last 12 months. I don’t see why they’d start now. Is this the tweet you’re talking about?

That’s the one. Doug Jones seat in the senate is not up for election again till 2020 yet Trump Tweeted “The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!”

Two years isnt’s exactly a very short period of time is it. It never ends sounds like something a guy might say when he laid a neat little trap for someone who might be rigging elections.

According to Q, MI has the very best intel (military always has the best of everything decades before the civilian sector get’s their mitts on it) including access to all other agencies intel and MI and NSA are cooperating with each other and working directly for the president right now. Not only that but Trump has replaced all alphabet soup intel agency directors except one. I’ll give you a clue….his last name is Rogers. These agencies are being cleaned out and word is that the CIA is the worst of the lot. Read the comment I left for Stucky on my A MORE COHERENT COMPILATION OF Q post, read the first 140 rows and judge for yourself. Does it sound like there might be something to it or is it BS? Oh yeah, don’t judge Q based on my posts prior to Monday. I was doing a pretty poor job of laying it out but that spreadsheet gets down to the nitty gritty.

I’d love to stay and play but I’ve got to hit the rack.

I’m very surprised. The Republicans in Alabama overwhelmingly voted for Moore in the primary. I didn’t know there were that many abortion loving liberals in Alabama. That said, Mitch McConnell is one Senator closer to his dream of recapturing the minority in the Senate and burying Trump’s agenda forever

The entire right wing anti elitist movement died last night, it has been rejected by the American people.

The people have shown with an impressive show of force that they don’t want it, don[t want Trump, and don’t want his supporters anywhere near having any political power or say so in government.

STOP! Please you’re killing us. They won’t be putting up suicide nets for Trumpers.

This is just another Dixiecrat blue-state “former prosecutor” senate critter being coronated.

Admin had the balls to make the call and his assessment was right-on even if the outcome was missed by inches. Jones won by only 1.5% of the vote against a candidate who the mainstream media vilified every day, 24 hours a day, for 30 days prior to the election. As usual, the large urban centers voted for the deep state, yet the race was very close; in spite of the Alabama Republicans being so divided.

Therefore, no matter how you slice it, the win by Jones was no mandate. However, even though he won by only an inch, it won’t stop him from pushing the deep state’s agenda for miles and miles. Nothing new under the sun.

If the Republicans weren’t so divided among themselves, most of them in support of Leftists regardless of party when faced with a conservative, they’d probably win every election.

But they are and they won’t.

Their opposition to Moore and his defeat signifies the end of the Republican party surge to power in the last few elections since it has been driven by the traditional conservatives whom they abhor.

If there wasn’t massive election fraud in the urban communist enclaves of Alabama, I’ll be amazed.

Did you ever notice how the large urban enclaves are always the last to report?

Why, it’s almost like they are waiting to see how many votes they need. Did you ever notice that?

Alabama judge ordered the destruction of all election ballots in the Alabama Senate race, dashing any hope of a recount.

That was exceptionally prompt by government standards, no?

Even though he endorsed him, Trump tweeted of Moore’s loss, “I said Roy Moore will not be able to win the General Election. I was right!” A narcissist can’t admit to a mistake; watch for Trump to save face by appointing Moore to the next available Supreme Court vacancy.

I wouldn’t mind seeing that appointment, no matter the reason.

But the Senate Republicans would refuse to confirm it.
